Hey VJ's hey a little question here if anyone can help(Gary). How long past the 6 month mark do you wait until one really push the USCIS.I know I have call and they give those non-direct answers. Now if someone starts bring in the heavy hitters does this cause problems for the the filers? Why can't they just give a direct answer when someone calls.

CSC is still "officially" working on June 16th, so 6 months means next to nothing, calling (or anything) is only going bang into this "June 16th" wall.

You cannot "really push" them. You can call your Senator or Congressman but all they can do is ask also. If USCIS has not violated the LAW or been incompetent there is nothing really they CAN do.

There are no "heavy hitters" per se. A congressional inquiry gets immediate action at any USCIS center BUT that action is to check your case status by a person that REALLY can check and report to the congressperson. But if it is just because of a backlog (it is) the answer will be "Check back in 60 days" Some people report that they have called a congresperson and received action. I suspect in most cases it was because they were about "due" anyway. It HAS been 6 months already. You call the congressman and 1 week later SHAZAM! you are approved. MUST be the congressman, right? Sure it is, they will let you believe that all the way to the polling booth!

Why do you not get good answers? Short answer...so you stop calling. If they gave you a good answer you would call more, so would others. Better to say "check back in 30 days" because at this point it will probably be approved within 30 days and you will never call again.

The long answer is that the person you talk to is an operator hired to answer phones, does not work for USCIS but works for a phone answering company and has no more access to information than you do. even if you get the "second tier imigration officer" they have no direct way to check your case in particular and no way to influence anything happening.

There is little else you can do. Contact your Senator or Rep. I go into Senator Leahy's office when I need something regarding immigration. If their office is not nearby, then call.
