Preferred method at interview?

Hello all,

I hope that all goes as planned this new year for everyone on their visa journey.

I have been looking at prior forum postings, am confused, and would appreciate some advice regarding preferred procedures for the infamous interview at the consulate. Please be aware that we are still quite some time away from the interview at GUZ, just trying to do some planning, and to put our focus on something other than our current limbo between NOA1 and NOA2. My plan is to travel to Beijing, meet my fiancee, and travel with her to her interview in GUZ. I understand that I cannot be in attendance at her interview. I have read about giving her my passport for inspection by the CO. I have also read about photocopying my entire passport, having the copy notarized, then have her present the notarized passport copy to the CO. What is the preferred method to convey to the CO during the interview that I have accompanied my fiancee?

This trip should represent our third personal encounter since embarking on our trans-Pacific affair, so it will all be good. Your thoughts, comments and experiences will be appreciated.

I gave my wife my actual passport (I also placed an updated EOR that I had notarized at the Consulate the day before in my passport as well) to take into the interview. Whether or not it gets looked at will be up to the individual CO; the CO that interviewed my wife did look through my passport.

My suggestion is this, give your fiancee your actual passport and have her place it on top of the stack of evidence she will be carrying in with her so that it is visible to the CO.
