What do we need to do after entry to the usa. Of course i know we will get married, but will my fiancee need to apply for her ssn in New York since that is the city she's flying to? I live in the Pittsburgh area but thought it would be nice to see NYC so i would drive there to pick her up.

You apply for the SSN at the local office where you live. Your entry point has nothing to do with anything but entering the USA lol.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

It's good that you want to apply for ssn right away but actually in my experience I just applied it after I received my green card and found a job. SSN is not necessary or needed when filing for AOS after your wedding.

SSN is needed for health care/health insurance - bank account additions - car insurance - drivers license and more. While it may not be needed for AOS it is very important and could make or break if you get in a bad accident or get very sick and need hospital attention. It also helps with getting documents for AOS like being added to joint credit card or bank account as well as lease/rental papers.

Yeppers, apply at ANY SSA office you can find about two to three weeks after POE, regardless of marital status. Period, just do it.

Many have found that applying for SSN soon after arriving is easier than waiting until later. The problems that occur with Adjustment of Status (AOS) are usually related to not having a SSN. But, don't be surprised if your local office gives you trouble. There is much uncertainty within the Social Security Administration as to how to handle new legal arrivals.

You should apply for AOS as soon as possible to give yourself time to get things done and maybe beat any planned fee increases. Your fiance/fiancee is a hostage here after arrival until the green card arrives or you obtain Advanced Parole (AP). So consider all your options and best of luck.

Also, the USCIS has a Welcome to America book which you can download that explains a lot of the little aspects of life in America. It is available in Russian. If you have a good printer you should consider preparing a book for his/her arrival. A three ring binder works good for that as it is quite large.
