I know some people have gotten RFE's for it and others have not, I just sent mine in today and to be safe I got two certified copies of the Marriage Certificate and kept one and sent the other to USCIS. We will see how that goes.

I have NEVER seen an RFE for a photocopy. I have seen an RFE for sending the wrong marriage cert. Church wedding often have a pretty "church" copy as well as the legal copy. Any RFE I've seen the "pretty" instead of the legal was sent. The instructions actually state photocopy.

The instructions do say a copy but do not specify whether the copy should be certified. A certified copy is still a copy. Even the guide on this website says some members have seen RFE's for not providing certified copies. I was simply stating although that RFE is rare, that I personally sent in a certified copy to be extra careful. To be technical you can never send in the original marriage certificate as the original is always kept with the court, any marriage certificate you have recieved after you have filed with the court will be a copy, whether certified or not. Either way it is up to the individual whether to send a photocopy or not, I just decided to send a certified copy. Thanks.
