Hello VJ I'm new here, been reading all the comments and suggestion. It's very helpful and I appreciate it. My question is I'm a F2b, my PD was 24Jan2007 and it has post decision status. It was been filed when my parents are immigrants and now they are US citizens. Is there a difference regarding thier citizenship will this make the petition faster? I just read an article from US embassy Manila that F1 visa has longer processing (10-12 years) than F2b (5-7 years) is this true or there still another option to make the petition faster. I don't know how US embassy works here in Philippines. Thanks in advance for your responses an more power.

Not upgradeable; but one in an F2B petition CAN marry a GC-holder and start an F2A.

I don't know where you are checking but F2B for Phillipines, they are working with dates September 2001, so the wait is over 10 years, and for F1 it is in 1997, so the wait is longer.

there is no upgrade because for children it is the age, you are over 21, whether a child of a LPR or USC, you cannot become a child under 21

Now if you married a LPR, a resident, then they would file a new petition as a F2A, and if you married a USC, then there is no wait.

always check every month the visa bulletin, here's January

This is my case:

I was an F2A then they automatically converted me to F1 (as the petitioner became a US Citizen)....

what I did was I wrote letter to USCIS requesting an opt out to the automatic conversion as per CSPA...and they have converted my category to F2B, which made my PD current...

I am now in the process of sending the required documents as per the Checklist they have provided....hoping that everything will go smoothly..

I do not know in your case if what I have done is applicable,,just sharing my experience...
