I just wondered if anyone have any knowledge of this and what may be the easier less hassle way of doing it.

Prior to my Medical in London I read that it is not necessary to have all your vaccinations for the medical as I have the K1, and these can be done before AOS etc. So I recieved the DS-3025 Stating I need various ones from the vaccinations nurse at the medical. No problem there i thought. Subsequently got them done for free at my doctors surgery.

Now I hear that I have to have that information transferred to a new document by a civil surgeon in the states for the AOS application. I hear that they try and insist you have a further medical and the costs just for the document can be expensive.

My main question is can I go back to knightsbridge Doctors and ask they transfer the new vaccinations evidence I have on to a new DS-3025? Then submit that for the AOS application.??

Thanks for any advice anyone may have.

Andy

The only way to avoid a civil surgeon fee and hassle in the US (K1s) is to get complete on all shots before or at Knightsbridge. The DS-3025 original goes straight to the embassy and then into your sealed envelope and finally matched up with your AOS application. It's a chain of custody thing. The only DS-3025 AOS can accept in lieu of an I-693 from a civil surgeon is the one inside your embassy file. It looks like you've already finished at the embassy.

People send a photocopy of the DS-3025 with their AOS instead of an I-693, but it's more of a reminder for them to find the completed DS-3025 in the file instead of sending an RFE because no I-693 was included with the application. Here's what the I-693 instructions say.

Even if a new medical examination is not required, you still must show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements.
If the vaccination record (DS-3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report,
you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon.

Thanks Nich_Nick, I thought I would now have to see the civil surgeon. I think I was a little mislead by posts that kept saying, you dont need to get them until AOS. Also advising not to get them at knightsbridge Doc's due to the costs. So I have saved a few bucks initially but caused myself some grief further down the line lol. Oh well if thats the only issue so far I can deal with that.!

I've posted on this topic a gazillion times for 3 years, but not much in the K1 forum unless the question was first posted by a UK member. Unfortunately many people never get out of the K1 section to look beyond to their specific embassy/regional forum or what's in store for AOS. If you go to the AOS forum and search for a thread called "Civil Surgeons who don't rip you off" you'll find posts with names and addresses of civil surgeons people have found reasonable. There is no sort order but you may get lucky and find one close to where you will live.

If you haven't left the UK yet, don't forget you can get those additional shots at NHS and many do it free. Then take your list from NHS and your DS-3025 to the civil surgeon to copy. And call every CS you can find and ask prices. They can charge anything they choose so ask first. If they mention having to do a whole medical or TB test, hang up and call the next one. You were cleared of TB and medical tests in London and don't do those again unless USCIS loses your medical file. Yes, that happens too.

The shots you need are

MMR (need two if 4 weeks have passed since the first one on the day you see the CS. Otherwise you get a waiver for insufficient time interval and get by with just one.)

Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One no longer than 10 years ago)

Varicella or VH written by it if you had chickenpox. (Tell them you had chickenpox to get a waiver on varicella)

Influenza (during flu season Oct 1-Mar 31) **If your AOS isn't adjudicated until after flu season, then that is waived. But if you see a CS before Mar 31, he probably won't sign off without the flu jab)

Thanks for such a useful information. I did my medical on 23 nov 2011 at knight bridge Clinic. They told me the only thing i need to get is MMR (second shot after 4 weeks) and i can get that vaccination from anywhere but i have to attached that proof with form DS-3025 for AOA application and i don't need CS.

The shot person at Knightsbridge gives out all kinds of information, but I don't think she's got it down or has studied the whole process. If on Nov 23 (date of medical)they could not medically give you a second MMR shot, then your DS-3025 should have been marked insufficient time interval. That's all you need. If all the other shots were done or marked not age appropriate then your DS-3025 is sufficient without a second shot and seeing a civil surgeon in the US. AOS will look at the date of your medical and if you were up to date on that day, you get a waiver. You were as up to date as possible on that date because a second shot would not have been medically advisable because of the timing.

As far as her advice of attaching proof of getting another shot. That is supposed to be done by a civil surgeon. USCIS does not take bits of paper from non-civil surgeons. You can take many bits of paper to a CS but he's got to put it all on one form (I-693) and sign off on it and seal it up so your hands never touch it. That doesn't mean that an adjudicator might not say--oh well I'll let this one go. But what the nurse at Knightsbridge told you is not what it says in the policy book the people who approve your AOS go by.

So are you saying you were complete at Knightsbridge and on your original DS-3025? What additional shots do you think you need? It sounded like in your first post that you got no shots because you wanted to wait. If it was a matter of a second MMR because of insufficient time interval then you may not need a CS.

I had my childhood vacinations on record only, in 1968, I was born in 1966. I took those to the medical and they said I needed the MMR, and tetnus. Possibly flu jab depending when. I had no intention of having them at the medical ( due to the cost and thinking it would be simple to have them here on the NHS and simply show proof at OAS ) I am now fully up to date with both MMRs and tetnus. Just need to get that transferred to the I-693, by the CS. Easier said than done uh, I will be in northern maine so there arn't many options of CS. Plenty around Bangor, which is 4 hours away! i will check for those posts though that you suggested earlier.

thanks
