I can't log in while I'm at work since I work in a restaurant within a store and we're not allowed phones on us. So that's the only time I'm not on VJ (besides when I'm sleeping of course :P) laughing.gif

That was me while I was stuck in Canada waiting. I didn't have a job, so I was on VJ ALL DAY!

Now, I just go on when I get emails with people replying to threads. And then I have a RSS feed on my browser showing all new topics created. If I can help, then I give my answer/opinion :)

First you have to pay the fee. NVC doesn't request documents until after the bill has been paid, processed, and approved.

That is good. So when they receive the package:

1- Does it take them time to assign a case number?

2- When the case number is finally assigned, do they request the fee the same day?

3- For the documents that you will have to submit, do they send you a mail( letter) requesting them or they inform you via email of what they need?

My wife's Joint sponsor told me yesterday that all his documents are ready and he will just have to fill the I-864. He is my cousin, he is in real estate in Pennsylvania, he owns 3 houses as assets, he sells and buys houses, he owns a website where people can buy or rent houses. However he recently sponsored his daughter that was living in Haiti to come in the US, so that wont be a problem for him to be the joint sponsor, right?

1. Yes, it takes them time to assign a case number. When I was in NVC last year, it would only take about a week from NOA2 to case number. But starting last summer, it went up to about a month. It's recently dropped down to about 2 weeks now, so you could find out any day. Just keep calling every day and asking if there's a case number.

2. No, they won't request the fee the same day. It'll probably be a week or so later. But if you're on top of things, it could go faster. If you're calling every day (instead of waiting), then as soon as it's assigned, you can hand over your email addresses, and start the ball rolling.

3. If you give both email addresses right after a case number is assigned, then yes, they'll email you. But some people don't get emails requesting for documents. I NEVER did. That's why most people do NOT wait. As soon as a fee appears as PAID in the payment portal, then they send off the packages. So, because of the delay, I would suggest NOT waiting.

If he's currently sponsoring someone, then I believe that means he has to include her in the household size, making the amount he has to make per year go up.

I never received an email requesting the documents. Instead, once a fee is paid, you have a link to follow on the payment portal receipt page that will take you to the instructions.

I found it a little confusing and I was glad I knew what I was supposed to do thanks to VJ. The VJ "LingChe shortcuts" guide explains it all MUCH better and more clearly than the DOS online instructions.

Same... It's interfering with my dissertation, for sure...

Well, I guess it's interfering with my.... wait, what am I paid to do at work again??
