We got an RFE from NVC telling us to submit the missing 2010 IRS literal printouts when in fact we have included it in the AOS packet. In filling up the I-864 item 25, we checked the box with the description that goes: I have filed a Federal Tax Return for each of the most recent tax years and have attached only the current year's Federal tax return. My husband called NVC and instructed us to re-submit the 2010 IRS.

Is this a false RFE?

A false RFE (or checklist) is when a whole package is requested. Something specific like 2010 tax transcripts means it's real, and not false.

Just go ahead and send in the RFE. Make sure you include the cover sheet of the AOS package from the payment portal.

If they just assigned you those numbers today, I would give it a day and try again, then call if you can't get into the payment portal. I couldn't sign in the day I got my numbers either, and you probably can't pay your AOS fee yet anyway. You have to wait until it is invoiced.

Okay. Thank you. That's what I though, too.

Since you got your case number at the end of last week (according to previous posts and your timeline), then the reason you can't sign in is most likely due to the fact that NVC is invoicing your AOS fee. Once you're able to log in (keep checking as often as you can/want), then it should be available. So have the money ready :)

I can't wait for them to take my money! lol

So regarding the I-864 (AOS), I know what to send to them, but the question is "how much is enough?"

I plan to send them my last 4 years of IRS Tax Transcripts, copies of my last four years of 1040s and W2s, and 12 months worth of paystubs.

Do I have to send them all the 1099s and schedules, amendments, etc., on top of what's provided above?

Don't send 4 years. It's either the last year, or the last 3 years. Not four.

And if you're sending the tax transcripts, then you don't need to send 1040s, W2s, or any other schedules. The tax transcripts cover all this.

Yes you are right, its actually a checklist letter. Do I need to respond to this & submit again the Federal tax return for 2010? My husband even submitted his original 2010 tax returns.

Really? The instructions make it seem like the joint (or substitute) sponsor needs to only be responsible for their own household and the immigrant. I'm not sure why they would require that the joint sponsor also take care of the USC and their dependents...

Doesn't matter for my situation, but just clarifying.

Oh, you might be right. We didn't need a joint sponsor, so I never really read the instructions for that laughing.gif

A joint sponsor is only responsible for their own household and the immigrant, no one else.

VJ, I have a quick question.

So I called NVC today, got my Case Number and my Invoice ID Number, but when I tried to use these two to pay the AOS fee, it says "sign in failure".

Can somebody tell me why? I am sure I put in all the correct numbers.

Thank you.

Even though you have these 2 things?

NVC isn't ready - NVC WILL BE READY after the USCitizen Petitioner has received the AOS fee bill in his/her email inbox.

So, one of 'the things to do' - is for the USCitizen Petitioner (not the Beneficiary) to call into NVC, ask for the AOS fee bill to be emailed.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I woke up this morning to find the interview letter in my email

It's March 27, a little later than I expected, I was hoping for an early March date, but hey, happy dance!! :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

I already called a panel physician and scheduled my medical for March 13. I gotta go to Paris and it's gonna cost me an extra 200 bucks in train tickets, but I'd rather have it done sooner than later.

OK now the puzzling question: with the interview letter, there's the list of documents that were/must be/don't need to be provided, and here's what it says:

CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS C

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1 Y

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 2 Y

2 - PASSPORT Y

3 - BIRTH CERTIFICATE O

4 - ADOPTION F

5 - MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE O

6 - MARRIAGE TERMINATION F

7 - COURT RECORDS F

F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE Y

9 - MILITARY RECORDS F

10 - FRANCE POLICE CERTIFICATE O

10 - TURKEY POLICE CERTIFICATE F

FEE PAYMENT $

PHOTOGRAPH Y

F - PETITIONER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE F

F - PETITIONER BIRTH CERTIFICATE F

F = not necessary for this application.

Sooo, they don't want me to provide my Turkish police certificate???

I lived in Turkey during 5 years, so it seems very strange to me... I'm still struggling to obtain it, but hopefully, it will be available before the end of March. However, I was just going to take costly measures to ensure I do get it (Turkish bureaucracy...), but now I don't know what to do anymore...
