Well, finished everything I can at the moment. Now... the waiting game. Our sponser is still waiting for her tax transcript (it's taken over 3 weeks-is that normal?). And the husband is still waiting on his PC. I guess (not ideal) we will drag out this process. Our 2 year anniversary falls on April 18 so we are planning the POE after that point so he can get IR. And so we don't need to submit all this paperwork (and $$$) soon after he arrives (if before April 18). But the time apart still sucks...

Congrats to all those with recent CCs and those experiencing speedy progress through NVC!

Got it! And found that the first operator was off by one digit, so I resent my optin and expedite request with the corrected case number.

Grats! Sucks about getting the wrong case number though. And good luck on the expedite request!

I could swear I did link

Anyway, here it is, and again, select Paris:

http://travel.state..../info_3830.html

Hmm, that is interesting. I know packet 3 is for K1 visa applicants since they mail documents directly to their embassy/consulate, but this seems directed to married couples as it requires a marriage certificate. And K1 applicants send different forms than those. Whatever the case, I'd just ignore this as there must have been some mix up.

Got our case number a few minutes ago by email!

Grats!

Three weeks is definitely too long. I'd tell them to call IRS up and inquire about it. Make sure they have the correct address. Most tax transcripts arrive within a week or two.

You'll save almost $1000 by not having to file for ROC two years after POE if you go through after the two year anniversary. Plus, keep in mind, even if you had all the paperwork ready now and sent it off, you'd probably only get a CC around the end of January. Then your interview would probably be scheduled during February and I'm guessing for an April interview (not sure the wait times in Australia, but I'm going with the average of 2 months). By the time you got the visa back and such, it would be around your 2 year anniversary anyways, so it's not like you're really wasting any time for the two year mark.

hello vj friends... Finally got my case number & IIN... now, what's next??? :)

Told you you would get your case number either this week or next!

I'd suggest emailing the DS-3032 template now. It might not get accepted because it might be too early, but by the time NVC gets to it, it might be fine. Don't waste the time and just send it. Got nothing to lose!

Also, keep an eye on the payment portal for the AOS fee to be invoiced.

And get the AOS and IV packages ready to go, if they're not already ready!

Please keep in mind that during the last half of the year, NVC has been taking 3+ weeks to get a case number assigned. And like I said, I believe yesterday, your case number will probably be assigned this week or next. Stay positive and imagine getting your case number assigned. And it will be.

You didn't link anything :P

Grats on the CC! kicking.gif You might still get an email, but it might be delayed a bit.

And Ryan answered about the SIF. It used to be a good indication of an upcoming CC. But lately, some people haven't gotten a SIF. Nothing to worry about though! As long as you got confirmation from an operator that your case is complete, then you're good to go!

Thank you Saylin

Once both packets (AOS and IV) are submitted, being unable to sign into the payment portal (sign-in fail {SIF}) was a precursor to a case complete. Lately, people are still able to sign into the payment portal even after receiving a case complete. I never put any stock in a SIF as it only means that you are not able to sign into the payment portal.

SIF means nothing, Case Complete means everything.

Thank you Ryan.

Quick question here: my husband is currently staying at a friend's, but he found a house for us, and he'll be signing the lease today. However he's not gonna move there before the end of the month.

So my question is: in DS230, is it OK if I give his friend's address in "address you intend to live", "address you want to receive your green card", and "address where you spouse lives", and then provide an updated DS230 form at interview with our home address, since he'll have moved there by then? Will they use the updated address to send the GC and SS card?

Thank you for your answer :)

For the AOS fee, we've all been in the same situation: give it a full business day before it becomes active.

Yes, you can update the address at the interview by bringing an updated DS-230. And I would also mention it at POE and just verify with the border guard the correct address.
