It was one year ago to this day I meet him in person...he was my friends cousin and they were talking about going back to Colombia to have their wedding there with friends and family and invited me to go, well they introduced me to Federico by phone (because he spoke english) in May of 2010 and then Fede found me in Facebook, there we began talking occasionally and then found out my friends were not going to get married that year in Colombia but I still wanted to go so Fede invited me to stay with him and his family.... I stayed for 2 weeks, wait 2 amazing, life changing weeks! By the end of the trip I REALLY liked him and told him my feelings and he thought I was crazy only because we lived so far (burn, I was rejected) hahaha so I left the next day and he realized he was an idiot and that he wanted to try so when I got got home from my travels to France I made arrangements to be back there for the month of June...we got engaged on the beach during the most perfect, beautiful sunset....and now the rest is history!

It's so awesome to hear everyone's stories! And it's crazy to think how people find each other in the most unusual places with there being a billion people in this world you never think growing up the love of your life would be in another country....I love life's surprises! Good forum!

Love it!!! (L) I saw your cute post on fb ;)... I hope to hear good news from you guy SOON.

In summary, I was on Student Visa, we went to same college, I had to take a silly science class as a requirement  ... so I took Astronomy  ... The proffessor made this class so difficult that I had to schedule an appointment with the Astronomy tutor for a class... and then I went for another tutoring class... and then for ANOTHER  I think I was the only student taking his time... It was the best class ever in my life!!! AND I fell in love with the astronomy tutor under the night sky :luv:

After some time I fell in love with him too and I went to meet him that's when I knew for sure I had to marry him no matter what.

I love this thread, its so cute how little miracles happen and we find our Ones from far away :)

The story of how I met Ben is a long one. In 2002 after I graduated High School one of my good friends was on a creative writing forum and I had drawn pics for the characters in an RPG she was in, so I decided to join so I could join the story too. Ben had (unknowing to me at the time obvs) joined the site in the same month and year as me (Sept 2002). I knew of him since 2002 since we both were in some of the same rpgs, but he was just some random person, not really one of my friends at the time (which happened to be a good thing since at the time I was 18 and he was 14 XD if I had gotten to know him well then it would have been awkwardddddd). Time went on, I got a boyfriend, he became a sort of friend of mine in 2006, although he was slightly annoying since sometimes he would get overly enthusiastic and always wanted to chat me up. He mildly flirted with me which I was with someone at the time and I don't cheat so that contributed to it XD

More time went on, I broke up with my boyfriend in 2008 because he was a huge loser and I was stubbornly trying to make something work that never would, we were totally incompatible but it was my first love so I didn't know how to let go. Afterwards I was going through a rough time with everything in my life changing and nothing was safe or stable. Ben stuck with me (which I still at first thought was annoying XD) and would not take a hint until I finally opened up to him and poured out all my troubles. He was calm and steady and supported and encouraged me, not just with his words but with his actions and how he was living his life. I came to realise he wasn't just that annoying slightly flirty guy I thought at first, he was very wise and deeply caring, but it took awhile for me to realise.

We'd have deep conversations, we collaborated on writing and art projects, we'd play chess on facebook and voice chatted karaoke on msn. So in August 2009 when I had paid off my debt accrued due to my ex, I wanted to take a good vacation. Originally I'd always wanted to go to Hawaii but he convinced me to visit Australia (it didn't take much convincing XD) I was still a bit scared about trusting but I knew I needed to meet him, I loved him more and more every day and I had to see if it would go anywhere in real life. I worked 2 jobs for a total of 14 hours a day just to save up enough for the trip. I met him in Feb 2010 and spent a week with him, he was all I thought he was and more. I knew as soon as I saw him from the top of the escalator that he was the one I would marry, but my brain was all logical and was like "well you need to see if you can live with him first nag nag nag!!". So after that trip we both worked on finding him a visa to come stay with me for an extended period of time, and found that since he was graduating from college in Aug 2010 he was eligible for the J1 exchange visa. He saved up and in Sept 2010 arrived here in the US to begin our year of living together.

It quickly became apparent that my heart was right all along and my brain got the hint as well and we were engaged in Sept 2011 just before he went back to Australia. Now we are in the K1 process, keeping sane through various writing projects, our music video save the date project, msn, emails and skype :3 And this year in Sept (if all goes well) we will be married 10 years to the month of us both joining that forum that started it all :luv:
