hi Everyone,

We started process to petition my parents to immigrate to US. My mom has very said experience of being denied twice visitor visa and all of us are concerned for the interview for them as mym mom is very pessimistic now....

I cannote locate much info on how interview happens for parents. Could anyone please share your experience? What were the parents asked, how were the consular officers?

Are they the same officers that interview for visitors visas? Any tips?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I do not have any answers to help you. I just want to wish the parents good luck and tell them to stay positive. This is a whole different ballgame. The tourist visa interview is a NON immigrant and the Immigrant visa for parents should be a much different experience.

Also, as you mentioned there is not much information on the I5 visas. So I would like people to fill out their timeline so others can have something to compare their timeline with.

Honechka, When did you file? Can you edit your timeline in your profile so others have some information to guide them through the process.

Thanks and enjoy the parents when they get here.

Happy New Years

Howdy, I should say that there is not to much to worry about your parents interview just because the questions will be more short personal questions about you and your parent relationship, maybe who are the petitioner? my son/daughter! when your son/daughter immigrated to the US?How they become US citizen?? bla,bla,bla...I will advise you just to keep reading because reading is learning about this process..Go to the search on the top of the main page and type IR-5 or IR-5 interview questions and you will find lots of information on the your process category. Just keep searching and looking around and with time everything will come together!

My mom was also denied visitors visa three times but we are positive with this one.... benuk is right make sure your mom knows what you do ( I am assuming you are the petitioner), where you live how long you have been emplyed at your current job if working, when you viisted your home country, how you immigrated to the U.S. etc if you have old pcitures of you and your mom alone or with other people make sure she takes them with her to help validate your relationship and not trigger a DNA request.

GOD has been WONDERFUL!!!

Thank you everyone for responses. I searched for IR-5 and did find more info.

I also entered my timeline.

I see also that there are at least couple people whose parents are scheduled for interview in January, it will be great if they share their experience.
