I'm going to get my passport photo taken very soon (want to do it tommorrow) and was going to do it in a photo booth (I used that for my passport). I've been told that they wont accept a photobooth passport shot - where did you get your passport photo taken? Thanks

Snappy Snaps!

I will add that it is not that they will not accept a photobooth picture but it is because they are very particular about the photo itself and getting a photo from a booth that meets the specifications will be nearly impossible. If you have not already done so get a copy of the specification sheet and read and understand it because even some experienced places will make mistakes. There have been many who have had photos taken and have had them ultimately rejected because of simple things such as head position, shadowing or the wrong colored background that were out of spec. When you get your photos taken compare the pic to the spec sheet and be sure it is good.

YMMV

Paul went to a pro photographers studio. It was more than a booth, but it was exactly what we needed. Maybe try calling the photography studios in your area.

I was visiting at the time and had a blast looking through all the wedding albums the guy had. The whole process took about 15 minutes. :D

Edited by Joey559

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

Thanks for all the advise guys - I was about to pop into Snappy Snaps but then I realised that I would be able to get them done on the airforce base so it would be ALOT cheaper and I guess they are used to taking passport photos the way that the us want them!! :)

Now THAT'S a stroke of genius!

For those reading this thread, I THINK Snappy Snaps charged us something like 6 quid for the passport pics (last fall)....I'm not sure but I know it was less than a tenner!

I got mine done at a photo shop in Bracknell and it was six quid for four which wasn't bad :D

I suspect there are a lot of places that can do it if you ask.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Annie downloaded a pdf file from the US Embassy (Edinburgh) website. It was just over a tenner.

The file had names and addresses of places that knew the US spec. for the photos. She is going to respond tommorow and post the link.

Hello. Ok so my lovely hubby beat me to it and posted you the link, but I found a bit more information that I thought folks might find useful. I do recall, in the dim and distant past, that there was a pdf of scottish photographers that they were giving out, and I am still trying to find it. Meanwhile, here are a couple of bits to help you. This is all relating to how US citizens in the UK can get their passport pictures taken (the 2 by 2 measure also - coincidently - required for UK peeps for their visa applications).

Links are as follows:

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/scotland/cgpasspt.htm

"...The Consulate cannot recommend any specific photographer, or assume any responsibility for their efficiency, integrity, or reliability. Fees and the service provided are solely between you and the photographer selected. If you wish to have your photos taken in Edinburgh prior to attending the Consulate, the following is a list of photographers who are familiar with U.S. passport photo requirements and have provided acceptable photos in the past.

1 Stop Photo

205 High Street

The Royal Mile

Edinburgh EH1 1PE

Tel:0131 225 1661

Alexanders Photo Service

58 South Clerk Street

Tel: 0131-667-5257

Photo Express

Picture This (Scotland) Ltd.

12 Home Street

Tollcross

— Photographers Familiar with U.S. Photo Requirements —

The following PDF files contain lists of UK photographers who are familiar with U.S. passport photo requirements and have provided acceptable photographs in the past. These documents also contain a sample photograph and instruction sheet you can share with your chosen photographer. *+

Photographers in England, Scotland, and Wales [PDF 68Kb]

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/acs/passports/usppt.pdf

Photographers in Northern Ireland [PDF 52Kb]

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/acs/p...otographers.pdf

Hope this helps folk

Annie
