OP, the question of what to do since you haven't filed taxes is below. As someone else mentioned, you can have paystubs by the time of the interview, which is helpful.

The first step for all of this is to try to relax. It's a long, challenging process, but you'll be fine. It seems a little overwhelming at first, but it will all start to make more sense as you go along. From what I've seen, Canada is one of the 'easier' countries for visas. I don't often hear about denials unless there's a reason (like someone I heard about who had been arrested for drugs and permanently banned from the US).

Worst case scenario, if you 'mess up' paperwork, is they will write to ask you for new/corrected/additional information. The only exception to that is if someone lies. That's really the only way you can screw up and ruin things for good.

Take a deep breath. And good luck!

Like I said, you both fill in a I-134.

Since you never worked, you were not required to file taxes. So instead of tax documents, you will send a one paragraph letter explaining why you didn't file (ie student, noit even a part-time job, no income, thus not required to file as per IRS guidelines)- make sure it includes your original signature.

thanks so much! so i will be fine with just sending in pay stubs? and not a tax return?

but i plan on just working part time because im going to be going to school to become an RN, so i will need a co sponsor...

Yes, as I said in post #4, just write a short letter of explanation why you didn't file taxes.

okay so what do i do then to state that i have only just started working? and what will i need as the primary sponsor?

and my co sponsor will need what to be exact

Okay, all this has been answered in this thread, but I will break it down for you anyway:

You = Petitioner = Primary Sponsor:: You need to fill out an I-134 and provide letter from employer stating your job title and salary(If you are not working, state you are a student and put zero income), a few of your most recent pay stubs and the most recent tax transcript (this would be 2010, but after April 15th it will be 2011 taxes). You can get the tax transcripts from the IRS for free ordering them by phone, online or mail. If you do not have previous tax returns, you must provide a letter explaining why you were not legally required to file taxes.

Co-sponsor:: Must make 125% of the poverty level to cover a household size that includes themselves, any dependents they have plus your fiance. They must also fill out their own I-134 and provide a letter from their employer, copy of their most recent tax transcript and a few of their most recent pay stubs. If they are using any assets to qualify, they must provide proof of those as well, such as a bank statement to show the cash they have in savings. They will also need to provide proof of being a US citizen or LPR by providing a copy of their US birth certificate, naturalization, bio page from passport, or front and back of their green card.

Your question was answered. Dont e-sass the staff. Read the I-134 and I864 instructions (similar) on the USCIS website also THEN come back with questions.

Submit a letter with your I134 stating that you were a student, no job, etc for the previous tax year(s) and have not been eliglble for or required to file taxes.

okay. thanks, but i dont think you realize that i didnt ask the same exact question, please dont do that again. it doesnt bother anyone that i post twice, i dont post that much at all, and i am very oblivious to this and i want all the answers i can get so i can get my fiance back here. so, i could care less about having two posts that are the same topic, i just want my fiance back.

so, again.

I JUST STARTED WORKING SO I WONT HAVE ANY TAX RETURNS. what do i do?

that was my main question. and if i dont have a job at the time how do i fill out the paper work? and how does it differ from the co-sponsors?

please, just someone help me

i don't get it.
