Christmas in Gaza

Timeline

Approximately 3,000 Christian Palestinians live in Gaza today. Many of these families were driven from their homes in al Majdal and other nearby towns in 1948 by Zionist militias and later Israeli soldiers. Their property was confiscated by the State of Israel and distributed for the use of Jewish immigrants, and the rightful owners have not been permitted to return to their homes.

Many have relatives in the West Bank, where Christmas celebrations are substantially larger and more festive because of the far greater numbers of Christians there. But few Gazans are able to visit the West Bank this holiday season. Israel has offered only 500 travel permits to Palestinian Christians in Gaza; however, these permits are denied to anyone between age 15 and 35. So most Palestinians Christians are staying in Gaza rather than leave some family members behind for the holidays.

Nevertheless, Palestinian Christians in Gaza are determined to enjoy Christmas.

"Nevertheless, Palestinian Christians in Gaza are determined to enjoy Christmas."

It's so nice to see a positive Christian/Muslim story for a change. The negativity, baiting and snarky opinions just get old!

Here's to a Happy New Year and new beginning on positive posting on such matters.

God Bless You!
