I listen to NPR. You can notice a slight (and I mean slight) bias on some programs, but I love how they always bring both sides in on a topic without berading one or the other. It allows the listener to hear both sides of the issue and draw their own conclusions. You can clearly hear, from the phone calls that come in, that both liberal and conservative leaning listeners appreciate this station.

It has also helped me to understand that in reality (not the media world), liberals and conservatives have much more in common with each other as groups than we will EVER have with any politician. The problem is, we rely way too much on the opinions the media feeds us and we assume them to be fact. We also look to our leaders for guidance, without realizing that these leaders almost never have our best interest at heart.

If you want the least amount if bias possible, like me, listen to NPR or watch BBC (also great reporting on BBC). PBS News Hour is also excellent.

I have no respect for Fox News whatsoever. MSNBC isn't much better. I can stomach CNN sometimes, but would rather not follow a dog on the highway for 3 hours or watch some dumb kid in a balloon. If I wanted reality TV, I'd watch the Jersey Shore or the Housewives.

Laugh. Get's my vote for the best post of the year in this forum. Sorry Steven.

Amazing. NPR fires Juan Williams, and now he is making tons more money working for FNC. So does Bob Beckel. All the liberal commentators are now trying to piss off their bosses so that they can go work for FOX.

I think they fired Juan Williams for doing what their station is against. I don't think it's appropriate to say something like "I'm scared if there are Muslims on my plane" if you're supposed to be providing the public with news.

This is why he fits in so well on Fox. They think this kind of talk on the "news" is appropriate.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and there is no doubt about it, clearly bias by every news reporter. However, it's how much you're willing to tolerate. Fox is the worst IMO, MSNBC a close 2nd, and the list continues from there.

I'm sorry, I just prefer less of that. NPR provides more facts and less opinion. BBC is excellent if you want a more global view.

To each his own, that's why there's more than one source.

Should he get fired over that? I guess it's up to NPR. I think there's more to it than that, but not sure.

They wanted him to disassociate from Fox News Sunday, stop being a regular guest on Special Report, and filling in on other shows. Like Susita said, NPR is uncomfortable with commentary. That was one of the reasons Pacifica Radio said they sold out big time, and stopped carrying them on the west coast. There is nothing wrong with NPR, and a lot of stations subscribe to their syndicated news.

I personally don't think so, but I agree something else was going on.

in the first place you miss represented what Was said by Juan.

As I recall he didn't say "I'm scared if there are Muslims on my plane" .... he said he gets nervous when a groups of muslims wearing traditional muslim garb get on a plane.

That, is a fairly common reaction.

I'm happy to see Juan on a regular basis and Pacifica radio finally died.

I got stuck in Pacifica for a week in the summer. It was F*ing cold.
