EAD and uscis website

I had my bio appointment today, and I was just wondering how long will it take for my EAD card to arrive?

And when I try to check the status online , it`s still says RFE which we`ve already sent out, and there was no update for Bio appointment, we just got a notice.So I guess, I can`t even rely on website to check status of my travel document or EAD.

When I try to call them, they`re not giving us any more info,just saying whatever is on the website.

Any suggestions?

Once your biometrics is OK --it may take about 2 weeks to be approved . Then you should get the EAD card to arrive within 2 after that . So I would say you will receive your card within 1 mth . We received our within 1 mth after the Biometrics .Good luck .

Thanks for your quick reply. So I should not pay attention to what`s going on with my case online? Because they haven`t updated anything for a long time, and when I call them , they don`t really have any answers I need. I`m just sitting and waiting for the next notice....

The website is not always accurate. Sometimes updates aren't put in right away.

The EAD takes 2-3 months from your NOA1 date. You can't really base how long it will take on when your biometrics was done, because in some cases biometrics is done early and then there is a wait of a month or more for the EAD, while in other cases EAD production is ordered on the same day because the biometrics appointment took months due to the local office being backed up. It looks like you had an RFE as well, which means your case was completely put on hold while that was processing, so don't count those couple of weeks in the 2-3 months.

Thanks a lot for your response. So I should just count from the date of NOA then, plus 2 weeks because of RFE. But how will I figure out when my EAD was approved? I just feel helpless without online updates and nobody even can help me with that.

And what about the interview ? When should I expect to receive a notice for that?

It's not that you necessarily won't receive an online update when your EAD is ordered, or when you receive your interview notice - chances are you will. It's just that sometimes the USCIS website isn't up-to-date, so if you don't see an update don't panic, it does not necessarily mean nothing is happening. Are you signed up for text updates?

And yes, re: your EAD timeline - count 2-3 months from your NOA1 and then add about another 2 weeks for the RFE and you'll have a timeline of when to expect your EAD. From looking at your signature, I'd guess you'll probably get it sometime in January. It's also possible you'll end up with your interview first, occasionally that happens and if you do get your GC first no need to worry about the EAD at all.

Ok,thanks a lot, really....I did not know what to expect next since nobody knows anything. I`m was trying to figure out what`s up with my EAD since my employer is still waiting for me to come back...

And what about name change? Do you guys know how that works? I heard that I have to change it on my SS card first, and then change on all the bills and credit cards, but what about this situation? I did not want to mess up anything ...

And one more question, is a travel document coming with EAD or it`s a different document ?

I just checked the status of my EAD and it says that they have ordered EAD card production !! Yay !!!
