Hello everyone!

My interview is coming up very soon (next week) and I think I might be in trouble..

On the uscis site, it said my EAD (work permit) was send in November 1st. However after waiting so long and receiving the interview paper in mail, I thought the uscis were postponing my EAD paper. It turns out, my wife had it all along. She was sorting all her papers and found it. :blink:

I could have had a job and help out with the bills :(

Now I can't apply for a job, because my interview is coming next week.

So my question is will my wife and I receive any trouble during the interview for not using my EAD/ work permit?

I can't see how it would be a problem, there's probably heaps of people who have their EAD and aren't working for one reason or another. If they ask you about it at the interview just explain to them what happened

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

No issue at all. It is unfortunate that it was temporarily misplaced but you will not get in trouble for not using it. If there are issues with not enough income they will have to be addressed with a co-sponsor but you would have had all that sorted out already.

They may ask for the EAD back at the interview but that has nothing to do with not using it, your greencard will replace it.

That does not go against you. It's for those who desire to work while their interview is pending. You do not need it when you are approved. Relax and continue to look forward to your interview. All the best.

10/13/2009 - My darling husband of 2 yrs 5 months 3 weeks 3 days passed away :(
