I rarely turn the heat on. If I get cold I just put on more layers or get under a blanket.

An odd thing my husband does is he always throws out my rags. He will use them once and then throw them in the trash. I understand if they are extremely dirty but that isn't always the case. I am always wondering where all my rags disappear to ..

I disagree with everyone else and agree with you. There is absolutely no reason to open a window when the heat is on. It's a complete power waste and as you stated, the amount of power required to heat it back up is not worth the 15 mins of open window, which, lets be honest, doesn't air out the house at all! Airing out implies air flow which would cool the house down way too far.

I do suggest however that he pick a room he likes, he can turn off the vent in that room and open that window to his hearts content as long as the door to the rest of the house remains closed. Eventually you may be able to lower the house temp so it doesn't seem too stifling to him.

**Edit - I come from a VERY hot country. We always kept the windows shut (except occasionally at night if it was cool enough), curtains shut etc during summer. We didn't have an AC when I was little so this was the way to keep the house cool.

You do need to come to some compromise though until he gets used to it. i live in the MidWest now and our elec/gas bills are great. We maintain the temp in the house by keeping the blinds/curtains shut, doors closed etc. During summer if it's not humid at night we'll turn off the heat and open the window at night and shut them all in the morning... but it's so humid here over the summer that's getting more and more rare.

I'm very spoiled to have a house with central air/hear. Not common in Aus (normally there's just a unit in a particular room) so when mum came to visit we had to remind her we could change it if she were too hot/too cold. She loved it!

When my daughter lived in AU she told her (now ex) hubby a window A/C was required if he wanted her to live there (yes, he bought one, that's not why he's her ex). Aye I like central air too. Hubs doesn't though. It dries out his sinuses. He likes it staying cool, just not at night.

I've never understood that with American's eating with just a fork, never a knife AND fork. I've been called "posh" numerous times for using a knife! It's not posh, it's just normal

I know my USC hubby struggles with me calling dinner "tea".

He can now make the perfect cup of tea though, which makes me love him even more When we first met he stuffed the tea bags in the kettle then put the kettle on the stove...

Sure there will be loads more once we finally live together properly

He eats the cartilage from between the chicken bones. He said it's good for your health. I don't care how healthy it is, I would gag trying to eat it. He also eat snails. Hubby was telling me in Kosovo they have very good snails and they collect them and crack the shells and roast them until they are crispy. He said people come from other countries to buy them. I'm sorry but EWWW!!! I suppose you can tell I am squeamish about food. We don't have snails here in Indiana, only slugs. And he asked me why people here don't eat chicken lungs. EW

lol my hubby gags at the thought of cottage cheese with fruit, but he doesn't know what cottage cheese is...yet...I need to buy some.
