I think Albanians shout at each other too. Hubby always talks "normal" to me but get him and his family talking in Albanian and I start wondering are they arguing or what  I've learned a few words but I say them soft. Completely makes my hubby melt. :luv:

I used to think when we were first married "wow, they MUST be saying something REALLY important" now I am fluent in Italian and realize... NO... Even if discussing the weather or dinner... They ALWAYS are sooo loud! I had to made a video of the chaos at big family gatherings so my friends understood what I mean!

Hubby talks in a low voice when he speaks in English ( he is a pretty soft spoken guy), but the moment he is on the phone or Skype to Italy... Switches to volume 812 million decibels! Like literally SCREAMING that they can hear him without an electronic connection... I am always like, what did you say, I can't hear you? But the moment he is on the line speaking Italian I have to tell him to stop shouting!

Uggghhh, my husband does the same thing but in both Danish and English. Every time we talk, I have to be like "shhhhh inside voice". It does get a little louder in Danish, but they are just loud all the time. I get such a headache whenever I'm sitting close to Danes talking.

My husband talks so softly I can barely understand him.

And then, just to be a douche, he will say it softer each time I ask him to repeat it.

 Actually, I kind of like the rowdy rough around the edges bit of having a Jutlander around, but I'd actually prefer a whee bit more of it with a little bit more expression. You know in all cultures people are loud and full of expression and life. Here, it is just loud. The nuances between happy, sad, angry, and just bla are very slight.

Ok - and a odd thing I just stopped him from doing: My husband goes off to work before 6 am and I sleep until like 9 or 10 (and stay up until 2 or 3 am), so I never noticed that he doesn't put deodorant on before work. I couldn't quite figure out why he was coming home so smelly...and he seriously didn't even think it was a problem even with having a physical job. Well, his coworkers and the people in the apartments can thank me now for having a prettier smelling man.

 I sometimes do that, but then I'll just say "nevermind" to just piss someone off. :innocent: That is only if I am angry at the person though.

My white bread American hubby was raised by his Uruguayan mom so he:

 eats meat with every meal

:innocent: didn't know the difference between a top sheet and a fitted sheet

 thought that giving me a set of garden tools was a super wedding present

I love the weird guy anyway

 What is the difference? I'm sure it's just one of the million things I am uncertain of, despite my being fairly proficient in this here English what'chu-ma-call-it... language... But I really don't know what the difference is between those two thingamajigs you mentioned. :P

Top sheet is flat, the fitted sheet usually has elastic to wrap around the mattress.

He'll do that to me too.

While he talks softly, I still think I'm partially deaf or something so I think it's very rude of him.

And he does it just because he knows it pisses me off.

Instead, he'll be talking and I'll just smile and nod.

Every once in a while he'll go 'did you even understand what I said' and I'm like NOPE! BUT YOU WOULDNT HAVE CLARIFIED ANYWAYS!

With his stiff accent I do this a lot. Once he asked me what I thought of his "American accent". I was floored, because all I heard was his accent, maybe a little less so. Then he told me I have an accent. I said, no, you have an accent. His family seems to be amused when I say Albanian words. Must be my accent

I'll fully admit, I have the worst English speaker's accent in German. The first word I screwed up to my husband was Weser. He was like, damn, why do you put all that stress on the 'r'? 'Vehser'.

Oddly enough, no German pins me as an American. I've been asked what part of Britian I am from many times though.

I love the german language so much.

I know this whole song by heart

That was cute! But I didn't understand a word.

He's talking about everything he'd do with his money if he had a bunch.

The song is so catchy I watched it again. My hubby would know all the words. For some reason most or all Albanians know German.
