Hi everyone, Amy here, and I have a few questions for anyone who may have been where we are, or may be going through the same thing.

Tomorrow will make it 6 months since I submitted our petition. A representative was able to put in a service request for our case 15 days ago by fudging the date of when our application was submitted by putting "June 14" instead of June 30th (since it was still within normal processing times). I received an email a day later telling me that our case is still being adjudicated,n and we would receive a response within 45 days of that date. In the mean time, I'd gotten ahold of my congressman, and he did an inquiry for me and they told him the same thing.

I spoke to a couple of representatives on the phone at USCIS tonight, just to see if I could speak to someone of more authority, and one of the reps did transfer me to a higher-tier officer who told me the same thing, and that likely they were still running background checks on both of us. She also said that normal processing times are 6 to 9 months now! ACK! Anyway, the lower-tier reps are still feeding me the B.S. that they're still processing petitions from June 16th, and have been telling people that for a month. When I pointed out that I know of people who filed later had already received a NOA2, the higher-tier rep told me that "each case is different" which is why they don't process them in the order received.

It's frustrating because we have a pretty simple case. Both of us have never been married, he has no children to bring with him, and we organized our file meticulously so it's extremely easy to access all supplementals in our packet. I even inquired as to if it had maybe gotten lost in the shuffle, and the higher-tier rep told me that from what she could see in my file "everything is fine."

How much of what I'm being told is true, and how much of it is baloney? Also, I'm wondering if it would do me any good to make an appointment with my local USCIS office and take a 75-mile trip out of town to visit said office. Did anyone ever have anything fruitful come of such a visit? I was told that those officers have more access than even the second-tier officers on the phone, and that they may be able to offer more insight. A trip to the city where the local USCIS office is located wouldn't be easy for me, as I would need to take a shuttle bus, having no car presently, and then a taxi to the office, and miss an entire day of work as well. So I would want to know from others if it helped at all to make this appointment (infopass) and if it did any good.

My congressman did tell me that if I don't hear something from CSC by the end of that 45 days that I should get in touch with him and he'll try again to do something for me. *sigh* I'm so frustrated by the CSC and getting the run-around trying to get any info on our case. :(

Sorry it's taking so long :( Usually there is nothing you can do but wait. I am sure it'll be approved soon. I have seen other people reporting that CSC is slow. Definitely not worth a 75 mile trip.

AOS for my husband

Amy, also don't forget the holidays and end of year. This pushes back lots of things as well.

Hang in there. Not sure if the Infopass will be any good considering you've already spoken to a higher-tier officer at USCIS.

Good luck!

Hi and thanks for the good luck wishes! :) The higher-tier officer I spoke to is a supervisor type person at the call center for USCIS customer service, and apparently an immigration officer at my local USCIS office would be able to access more specific information regarding our case. I'm just wondering, however, if others have done the infopass thing with any sort of success. :)

:/ Good luck. Hopefully it'll come in the next few days or so.

Perhaps they are doing background checks? I'm not familiar with visa petitions going through Russia...is it considered a high fraud country?

Either way, I hope you hear from CSC soon!

[it's Victor from Russia]

Thanks everybody for answers! :) Wish to all of you luck too!

No, Russia is low fraud country, I know that most people from Russia getting K-1/CR1 visas smooth and easy, and long background checks are unusual for Russia.

I feel your pain. 195 days here, and just 2 weeks shy of 6 months. I will be visiting my congressman on Tuesday, but I suspect this won't get any more reaction than what everyone else has reported - which is ZERO. I think CSC is in a processing hole, and I do feel they are trying to get out of it, but that they are having difficulties doing so. Maybe they need another trained worker. I know they are working extended hours due to some hardship cases so that has to be burning them out a bit, especially around the holidays. I feel sympathy for them, but at the same time.. I want my NOA2!! My fiance is in limbo - he is having a hard time finding a temporary job, and he will not hide the fact that he's immigrating so no one wants to hire him. I send him what money I can and he receives government assistance, but its hard to sit and wait, while attempting to maintain 2 households...
