Hello,

Soory, just registered yesterday and posted in the wrong section.

My I-485 package was sent on December 1st (per my lawyer with I-765 in same package)

I-485 was received at chicago Lockbox on 12/5/11

I-485 receipt notice was sent out (hardcopy) on 12/16/11

Biometrics appointment notice was sent out 12/20/11

Biometrics appointment set for 1/9/12

Question: I thought this includes the Employment Authorization which was sent out at the same time.

Will there be 2 seperate NOA1 for the I-485 and I-765?

Or does one notice mention both?

My notice says: 'I-485, application to register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.'

I am worried sick now that either it is taking much longer for I-765 or that it was not filed at the same time and my lawyer just filed it today when I asked him if it was filed.

Please help. I need to work ASAP.

Cheers,

Danny

You should get a NOA-1 for each petition. In this case 2. If you also filed for advance parole, an additional one. We got all 3 notices same day but in different envelopes. FYI, the case numbers were consecutive, you can try the USCIS 'check your status' with the case number you've got and 2-3 before and after and maybe you'll hit it.

You should get a notice for each petition. Check on line try the consecutive number idea, ours were.

Hi,

Tried the consecutive numbers and the one after my NOA-1 for my I-485 is another one for an I-485. the prior number is for an I-765 but could be for someone else, how can you tell since there are no other way to know applicant?

Thanks and Happy new year everybody.

you should get a notice for each application and if it was filed at the same time, your biometrics notice should have two barcodes with your case numbers (one for I-485 and one for I-765). my applications didn't have consecutive case numbers so it's really hard to guess that way. only way to find out is ask your lawyer if he filed it at the same time.

Ask your lawyer if they sent it. They should have a copy of everything they sent (it's standard for them to keep a copy). There's no way to lie to you about whether they have or not because when you get the NOA1 for the I-765 it'll have the "filed" date on it.

Alternatively, you could call USCIS and give them your alien number to see whether they have those cases listed.

If it's not there you can have I-765 filed now and you can TRY for an expedite if you're desperate.

There is really no way. That's why I noted 'maybe' in my original. If the 1-2 next/before that number you have 'match' the type (EAD, AP, GC) I'd say there is a chance those are yours. Emphasis on chance. In your case, seems no such luck and then you are left to contact attorney. The 485 was the first in our 'series'; that is, the first case umber was the 485, then the other 2. I'd check that, no assurances of course.

The following is just my thinking; if all 3 petitions are in same envelope, upon receipt, the first thing that would happen is to 'register' receipt by assigning a case number. Thus it would make sense to me that those are consecutive. If what was in the envelope was only one (the 485 after yours), it would make sense is only one case number. That is why I'm thinking your 485 number and the prior two might be yours. Again no assurances.

Of course, it is as well possible that upon receipt, the packet is split among 3 processors and each one has their own next number. or that the next number is simply assigned to the next entered petition, which might not be yours...We can all go crazy here analyzing the possibilities; best to do is to put it out of your mind.

Some days I'd like this process to have more transparency; and probably everyone here does to. Hang in there it will come.
