Hi VJers,

My sister's I-140 petition was approved about 2 years ago, and she received her receipt stating that she may now adjust her status. However, her lawyer told her that she has to wait for the president to give the green light for her to adjust. Is this so seeing that she is approved based on a petition filed by her employer?

Because of what she was told she has not applied to adjust her status. Does anyone know about this? Will she have to wait on a visa number to adjust even though her I-140 is approved? I prefer to receive responses only from those who have information regarding this situation. Thank you.

05/05/2009 - Received NOA2. Welcome letter for Permanent Residency. I-130 and I-485 approved 04/30/2009
05/08/2009 - Touched. I-485 approval letter sent
05/11/2009 - GC received in the mail. Expires 2019
05/11/2009 - Applied to remove restrictions on my SS Card
05/18/2009 - Received unrestricted SS card
10/13/2009 - My darling husband of 2 yrs 5 months 3 weeks 3 days passed away :(

Hi guys,

Please do not respond to this thread. I have recieved the information. She will have to wait for the immigration law too change and her priority date to become current. thank you.

Thank you for responding. She just read the approval notice to me and it stated that she has to wait on immigration laws to change and her prioriy date to become current. I guess she is still waiting. Again thank you for respondin. Have a blessed 2012.

So she is here illegally and has no status to adjust from.
