Do I have to change my name on my passport ??

My passport is not due to expire for another 4 years.I applied for a renewal last year under my maiden name...all of my immigration related documents are under my married name.Will this be a problem if I travel? cant I just show a document showing my maiden and married surname at the airport ?

If all your other documents are in your married name, i would just jet a new passport. But you can always take along your documentation. If issued - http://travel.state.gov/passport/correcting/ChangeName/ChangeName_851.html

No you don't have to. The only caveat is you have to use your maiden name for plane tickets if you are flying internationally. Domestic doesn't matter as you can use you GC or driver's license as ID.

My wife is in the same situation as you and hasn't changed it and she has had no trouble.

Agreed. Plus, if your new passport is less than 1 year old then you can have the name change done without incurring any fees (this works provided you have no international trips planned while the name change is being processed)
