hey everyone

My interview and medical are both next week at the vancouver consulate and woking medical for my k-1 visa. me and my fiance paid for the interview $350 and medical $350.

I was reading over my email of my confirmation for my interiew and it says:

"The visa application fee is determined by the type of visa for which the applicant is applying. Based on the information that the applicant has provided, the visa being applied for is a Fiancé (K) visa. The fee is the equivalent of USD$350."

The applicant must pay the USD$350 non-refundable application fee at the U.S. Consulate on the day of the appointment for each visa applicant. Fees are payable in exact change U.S. cash or the Canadian equivalent"

so....we have to pay ANOTHER $350 on the day of the interview? i thought it was just the booking of the interview and the medical we had to pay for other the AOS later on.

how do we have to make the payment on the day of the interview at the consulate? cash( USD or Canadian?), credit, money order etc?

thanks!

just making sure to go over some last minute things... -.-

I have a similar thread on this. Tread this topic lightly, many people may take your astonishment for contempt of the relationship. I was taken aback when I heard about it too. Plus, you have to pay for the visa mailing fee, and I think it's about $150 USD.

That's silly. Asking questions about fees shouldn't make anyone question your relationship... Did people actually do that?

But yes, that's another fee due on the day of your interview. I think they call it a "visa processing fee" or something like that. In Montreal we paid in cash, USD but I'm not sure if that's still relevant or if Vancouver does it differently.

You do not pay another 350 fee.. they make you pay that upfront online as you book your appointment. (this also includes the DHL fees to send your visa back to you if you are approved)

At woking you pay 350 by bank draft or money order only. they do not take cash or cheques or credit.

Since you stated you already paid for them, you are fine unless your from another country other than canadian citizen.

I just came back from my Interview and medical 2 weeks ago at Vancouver and was approved.

Arrived at 9 30 in morning (appointment was at 10) and was done by 12 30 after lunch. Most of time was standing in line, and sitting waiting.

The actual interview was maybe 10 min long. Very nice young girl doing interview and she asked the standard questions, then said congratulations. that was it.

Remember, do NOT bring any phones, bags, purses, they will not let any of those items in. Only thing i took with me was my packets and what the medical gives you, and they will stamp DO NOT OPEN on their envelopes you give at interview.

I forgot about the "new" online system, sorry about that! Times have changed in 2 years. I misread the original post and thought the first payment of $350 was a reference to the original filling fee. I'm out of the loop. At any rate, best of luck!

So, it's not $350 USD plus the visa DHL fee? Do you have a link to this being stated on the Travel.State.Gov or USCIS website?

Are you sure you are not confused on country specific items???? you are posting in the Canada section and seem to be from Russia. They do things very differently in different countrys.

_ edit to add - the fact that your link specifically goes to the Russian section that states Russia specific things! So yes you are confused. You pay $350 online in Canada for the interview fee and that is all.

You already paid online. You do not have to pay again.

The medical needs to be paid for on the day of the medical by bank draft or money order which you can get in about 5 minutes at your bank.
