My Fiancee submitted our application on the September 14, 2011, and got NOA1 three days later, it's almost 4 months now and we are very anxious to get the result, but according to the USCIS website, CA processing center takes up to 5 months to make a decision on any application so I would like to know if there is any possibility that we might get NOA2 before the Five months period? or Does it take longer to process application for a beneficiary from Africa?

I really want to know and hope you guys can help me out.

There are many cases where they report more than 5 months to get NOA 2 right now. Calls to USCIS result in being told they are backed up with cases.

Africa is a place where some countries have embassies that place many cases in A P for further review. If yours is one of them you should prepare yourselves for that possibility.

Oh ok , I live in Accra-Ghana and don't think I fall in the criteria , but will be waiting , it's better to wait for the 5 months processing time frame, am just worried that this is taking longer than we anticipated.

It have nothing to do with where you leave. CSC have been super slow, and there are people from June that are still waiting. It have nothing to do with country. However when you get to the embassy part of the journey, there is a possibility that the case could be put into AP which could take from several weeks to months, so be prepared for that.

Your fiancee submitted a PETITION, not an application. No it does not make any difference for the petition.

It is quite possible you may go beyond the 5 months that was the previous "goal" of USCIS.

She is not at the consulate phase yet. That would come after petition approval.

The O P said Africa without indicating a specific country.

I think the fact that they are waiting for the NOA 2 shows they arent at the consulate phase. I am pointing out that if they are trying to understand or plan they should consider the possibility of A P later. People are always concerned about time just as we see here.

Legth of time for the US phase is pretty standard unless you run afoul in the initial name crecks for criminal records. Each embassy varies and at one time Ghana was the worse with people waiting over a year for their interviews. Not sure what the wait is now. Try using the time line feature are see what people are getting.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

we are within the same timeline as you though a month ahead of you. We filed at the California Service Center on Aug 20 and waiting for our NOA2. Yeah hopefully we are approved next month since that will be our 5th month. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
