I don't drink beer but I would have a sugar free lemonade with him, basically water with a lemon squeezed in it.

I am choosy about who I spend time around when they have loaded guns. ####### Cheney's friend should have been more choosy. I saw Santorum in a clip hunting pheasant. He is comfortable and confident with his gun. I can spot that a mile away (which is why Kerry had someone else carry his gun for him when he did his "hunting photo op", any real gun enthusiast would spot that phoney immediately)

This means he is generally a good guy, honest, wouldn't steal from you or hurt you (unless he had to) But it does not make him a good president.

He is comfortable and confident with his gun, therefore he is a good and honest guy who won't hurt you unless you have it coming.

Is that what you just said?

There wouldn't be 4 years with Obama as President and the GOP holding the House and Senate. There would be stalemate for 2 years with Obama positioning himself with the people while Republicans would continue to position themselves with the wealthy. Come 2014, the GOP would be out of fashion for some time to come. That is assuming that the GOP will conquer both chambers of Congress next year. Might happen. And it might not. The Republicans have been outmaneuvered politically by the administration as of late. I don't see that changing next year. They're playing checkers while Obama is playing chess.

The reasons the administration has been able to outmanoeuvre the House of Representatives are Dingy Harry Reid and John Sunburn Boehner. Dingy Harry won't let anything reach the floor which has a chance of embarrassing him or the administration. Ol' Sunburn simply hasn't a clue, hasn't got tabs on the members that aren't mainstream GOP and just wants to get re-elected.

If the GOP take the Senate, the administration suddenly runs out of wiggle room and the President actually has to start using his power of veto. At that point, the electorate will get to see where he actually stands and how far he is prepared to go to drive policy away from the GOP PoV.

Mind you, there's no guarantee that the GOP is competent enough to retain the House of Representatives, let alone win back the Senate. With the approval numbers for the House and Senate in the tank, and the public being quite bipartisan with where they lay the blame for Congress being so utterly ineffectual, who knows which way the voting will go in November 2012?

If I had to choose which way I thought it would go now, I reckon Obama wins a second term, loses the Senate, but the GOP don't get anywhere close to the 60 seats to cause him too many problems, and the GOP clings onto the House with a reduced majority.

Politics, however, is unpredictable, and the next 10 months could change all that.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

Yes. Is there something you did not understand?

I also said I would drink lemonade with him but hold the sugar.

That reminds me of that bs line the media likes to throw around about whether you'd like to have a beer with someone running for office. Maybe I would, but ####### does that have anything to do with it?

I had a few beers with Gore some years back. He was pretty fun to get tipsy with.star_smile.gif

if he is competitive in the primaries beyond SC then yeah I might change my reg to R just to vote for him (or Paul).

wouldn't that make you a RWN/tea partier?

I think he is saying he'd vote Paul or Santorum to try to get a complete wacko the nomination.

Oh, that would be appreciated. I suppose that the Republicans are quite capable of doing that themselves. Rick would be great. Either one of them. Ron would be better. I guess it's too much to ask to bump Michele up once more? Or bring back Herman?

wouldn't that make you a RWN/tea partier?

No, it would make him an Obamabot. He would do this to help get the whackiest guy on the GOP ticket. Who'd benefit?
