I've been putting together a nice care package to mail to my fiance, helping us through the last leg of us waiting for out K-1's NOA2 to come in.

With boxing day sales, I got a bunch of Kinder Surprise eggs for cheap - but I remembered something about them not selling them in USA (My fiance one time visiting Canada ate a few as he never had them before), so I checked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinder_Surprise and low and behold, banned with a $300 fine.

Ugggg... I still want to mail them though. Maybe if I take the toy out and make it separate? I guess I can't hold onto them and go across when I POE? Then finally.. #######?!?! Really lame that they are banned

Yup, they are banned.. you used to be able to for gifts, but even now, you cant. A 2 year old choked and died in states some years back, so they wont let them in now. Its amazing some of the wierdest things they confiscate at the border.

Buy the Kindermilk little chocolate bars instead - same taste, no worries. I saw them in Canada at the Walmart checkout just a few days ago.

With the package, you have to say what's in it...they xray everything anyway and they'll see them, so I wouldn't bother, your package will just get held up or rejected.

Except the chocolate in those things were totally nasty and revolting. Only reason to get them was for the weird cool fun ####### inside you would assemble. But yes, deemed a chocking hazard here, but maybe all they need to do is put an age restriction up on them like other toys saying not for kids under so and so age...

It does have the age restriction pictures on it etc. Its still not allowed because people are retarded and do not read the labels lol.

i found knock off Kinder Surprises in the store yesterday..i was quite surprised. They are called something completely different and are made in China but they were chocolate eggs with a toy inside. And of course for the life of me i can't remember the brand name..sigh. It was in Valli produce, which is a sort of multi cultural grocery store; as in they have aisles for oriental, mexican, german, greek. etc.

so at least here in Chicago you can find those ones. Course i doubt they taste very good but we only used to get em for the kids to get the toy.

Totally bizarre. I never would have thought they were banned :S

**Edit. How about if you were to open the eggs. Split them in half and ship them open with the toys on the outside??

I've sent them to my fiance's kids in the mail once and had them in my checked luggage once before I knew they were banned. I had no issues either time but if they had decided to search my bags it would not have been good. I didn't list them specific on the label when I mailed them... I just said various candy bars.

Or even because they poked their parents eye with it! hmm rofl.gif
