I am assuming your husband is in the military? If so, it is pretty easy...we just got the schengen visa. The military will help you guys to get it. (they will do everything) So will you be going to italy? Your visa will have to go to italian embassy in Washington DC since you are not a US citizen. Send it as early as you can though...it took over 6 weeks to get it back from there. Need more information on where you will be heading though to give you good information. I might be able to help you with some advice on how we got my wife and son's visa.

Yes and no...for where to apply. We actually entered the Schengen zone in Germany, but because the final destination was Italy we applied to the italian embassy. Granted our case was a little different and I can't say with certainty on what the correct answer is. We did everything through the passport office, but since the travel we be on leave I think you would have to apply yourself. I can't say for sure where you would apply, but typically if you are not a US citizen, you will most likely have to apply through washington DC. It would probably be best to talk to the Embassy closest to you to be sure. I don't know if the embassy follows the same Italian holidays as here in italy, but 6 Jan is an Italian holiday.
