What if you receive a CR1 stamp & want to enter the USA but leave (temporarily)

So my interview is coming up in Jan. My wife is living and working in the US. The issue is I do not want to move right away until I have secured my job in the US. My job in Canada makes me travel to the USA up to 4 times a week. I Imagine this will pose a problem if I plan to work in Canada an extra month or so until I secure my US job and move my stuff down.

My thoughts are to get the passport back and drive to the nearest border crossing and go through the entry procedure then come back to Canada.

Now I don't know if I am allowed to do this. Does anyone know?

When I go into the USA its on a corporate plane (for work) and I do not want to enter for on a business trip and have them see the stamp and start the process.

What do you suggest?

Once you obtain your CR1 visa you are allowed to travel in certain period of time this will not affect your status. However consult your lawyer fro some professional advice.

Sure, it's allowed. No problem. The problem occurs when you leave the USA for more than six months. You are free to travel back and forth as soon as you have the CR1 visa endorsed at the POE.

That is great news. I figure it is better for me to come to the USA with a job rather than leaving a perfectly good job to be unemployed...I would hope they wouldn't force you to do that considering there is no guarantee as to how long the visa process can take.

I'm glad I read this thread. Someone at work was telling me that my Canadian husband wouldn't be able to go back to Canada after his POE for 6 months. I thought with a CR1 this wouldn't be a problem. He needs to be able to go back and forth to see his mom and son. Thanks for posting....
