Bieber fever ends in mall mayhem

This happened here in NY in 2009. My friend brought her tweenage daughter there, what a freakshow.

"GARDEN CITY, NY (WABC) -- A planned appearance by a teenage singing sensation at the Roosevelt Field Mall turned into chaos on Friday.

According to a spokeswoman for Roosevelt Field Mall, a store called Justice was having a signing with tween idol Justin Bieber on Friday afternoon.

An estimated three thousand pre-teen girls and their parents had camped out at the mall since 7:00 a.m. for the appearance by the 15-year-old Bieber. The teen singing sensation was going to do a CD signing and performance.

At some point, investigators said the crowd surged toward the location, and aggressive pushing and shoving caused a need for police.

"We saw people getting pushed, moms and dads," one girl said. "We saw 10-year-old girls standing outside by themselves (after getting separated from their parents)."

"One mom broke her arm," said another girl.

NCPD Police units and several Garden City Police units were called to the scene. They cancelled the event and dispersed the crowd.

Jayme Reissman and Driana Eunne told Eyewitness News that the crowd wasn't listening to the police, and fights then broke out. They said at least one girl was tasered and removed by police.

Four to five injuries were reported.

Bieber himself posted on his Twitter that one person among his crew was arrested.

In fact, police made one arrest - James A. Roppo, 44, of Hoboken. He is a senior vice president with Island Def Jam Records.

Nassau Police say Roppo was arrested because he was not helping them disperse the crowd. Police said they asked him numerous times to go online to tell people that the event had been cancelled and to leave. A lot of people in the crowd were using Twitter, so police wanted him to go on there and make the announcement. He refused, so he was arrested, officials said. Eventually Island Def Jam let people know the event was off through Bieber's Twitter page.

This sounds more like "stratigic hype" than anything else

They even arrested the Def Jam Record Vice president because he would not calm the crowd of teeny-boopers who came there JUST FOR A BIT OF JUSTIN.

It was sad that one chubby mom fell and broke her arm.

The remarkable thing about these weekly occurences (such as above)... they are so often unplanned spontaneous acts of violence or extreme Anti social behavior.

Cases of individuals doing this stuff is not nearly as alarming as groups with no prior agenda arriving and then all working in concert to create these environments, My Liberal friends don't want to talk about the

elephant in the room which of course is the consistent race of people involved, it is very rare to see Hispanics doing this kind of thing same with Asians or whites, one has to imagine the cringing so many normal African Americans experience when they view these constant top news stories about the black undertow.

There is a social pathology going on here..... and I know it pisses some off that I post these stories, but pretending it's just some "pesky youths" is avoiding a growing problem among a segment of the Black youth.

The Attorney General Eric (my people) Holder, instructed us as a nation to talk about these topics of race.... in fact he and I agree, to not do so is a sign of cowardice.

The advanced search feature works really well. If you want to give it a whirl you'll find that I predicted Romney winning the '12 nom in '08. It only takes common sense to figure that one out. Not sure why you couldn't see it. As long as Romney makes a halfway decent VP choice he'll be our next president.

There are fights at MOA more often than is advertised. I've been passing through the food court when someone was

Tackled by police officers for ripping off a watch/jewelery cart. The sad thing is they called him by name. It happens to be the mall nearest to me so that's where we normally shop. We stay away on weeends and the day of Eid as it turns into Somalia, but otherwise it's a fun place.

Of course the solution is to do what we typically do, put bars on our windows, pay for alarm services, hire more security, or outright drive this element from the mall via admission rule for all kids (No one under 18 without a parent) or on a larger scale impose curfews on all teens.

If the mall fails to control these news stories, they simply go out of business.

I had one mall near where I lived when I first came to Charlotte, it was a very nice place, complete with skating rink, the demographic in the area changed and it disintegrated , endless stories on the news and now recently it totally closed, not from competition, there is no other mall on that side of town.

Often the city tries to take over these "lost-causes" to keep the area from sliding further but, I guess you can only do that so many times before you run out of need for gov't office space or or money to sink into such a large holding.

Adding to the retail shift in Charlotte, demographic changes and ethnic shifts to the surrounding areas have changed the retail makeup of the mall. Crime rates also increased around the mall.[6] In late 2005 there was a shooting inside the mall near the Gourmet Gardens food court and also a shooting outside in the parking lot. Another shooting took place in 2006 near the food court. A bullet smashed one of the glass doors and one person was shot.[7]

Mall and city officials cite that it is "a perception of crime" that has scared patrons away as opposed to actual crime happening every day.[8]

Whatother mall has a policestation inside? This isn't some paul blart mall cop movie... The PD has a station and it's bc stuff like this happens quiteoften. We're only hearing about it bc of Drake and Lil Wayne.

We actually have a mall out by me which has a police station inside too. I guess it's more common than we realize

It's in a rather rough neighborhood, but I don't recall hearing about anything violent happening there. Just a lot of shoplifting, etc.
