My fiance has her interview on January 4th. If all goes well will the U.S. embassy in Bogota give her the visa in person or will they mail it to her or must she return to pick it up later? Thanks in advance.

Taken from the Embassy information page here on VJ:

"Visas are now being shipped to beneficiary via Domesa (a courier). Visas may NOT be picked up at the embassy. Beneficiary can stipulate delivery address and MAY be able to pick up the visa at the Domesa's office. Example reasons for picking up the visa at Domesa include that you are staying at a hotel. Your best, safest, fastest and cheapest option is to pick up your passport at the delivery service's office in Bogota".

Good Luck,OrlandoGringo!

Are you going down for the interview?

If she lives in Bogota, then... I'd think she'll have the visa in hand in 2 to 3 days.

That's always been what I've heard over the years, in regards to Colombia/Bogota.

07/27/2011...........NOA1 received.

12/05/2011...........RFE received.

12/13/2011...........RFE response sent.

12/16/2011...........RFE RESPONSE received by Vermont S.C.

12/22/2011...........Teased by a text-message from uscis, saying they have received my response to the RFE.

12/30/2011...........LA VISA APROVADOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

01/12/2012...........Case Sent To Bogota Colombia, from the National Visa Center.

02/09/2012...........Schedule Interview.

03/23/2012...........Interview (to take place then)!

04/07/2012...........Arrived in USA.

07/01/2012...........MARRIED!

What next?

.......How the days DO slip away!

This information is a tad out of date.. The embassy in Bogota switched from DOMESA to DHL a few months ago. The option is to now pick it up at any of the DHL locations in Colombia (the cost is free) or for an additional fee they will deliver it to an alternate address. So far only the free pick-ups have been reported on here (We picked up the visa package at one of the Medellin locations). After the interview you will go to a website and select the location to pick up the visa and be able to track it online.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect
