Hello everyone, I am ready to file my application based on 5 years rule only there is one problem - long story short my husband is not in the best relationship with his 20 year old son (my stepson) we don't have his current address. would be better to write his address as unknown or just put last known address?

If you don't know his address put Unknown. Don't fill in things with incorrect information.

Thank you for your answer, do you think it could affect my application?

At most they might ask about it in the interview at which time you would explain why the address is unknown. Its not going to affect the application.

Agree with Inky, it is not going to affect your application, the boy is an adult.

I'm assuming the stepson is a US citizen? If so I doubt it will be an issue or even asked about. 'Unknown' is just fine and you're not lying because you simply do not know.

Yes he is a US citizen, I am just afraid if by putting"unknown" I might look like unmoral person who doesn't know the address of the step son. :(

It could also be he is travelling the world. Could be he currently lives on school campus so doesn't really have a permanent address. Could be he just moved and you weren't able to get a hold of him in time to put it on the forms. It's honestly not a problem.

Is his mother's address his permanent address?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

If the correct answer is "unknown" then put "unknown" It does not indicate anything else other than you do not know his address. If there is a question about it (I doubt it) they will ask at the interview

Wife said at Part 9, her IO quickly glanced at our eight kids as strict as she was, for the country of birth, my six were born in the USA, her two in Venezuela. Checked their birth dates, both over 18 and commented none of them would gain US citizenship through her. So I feel the only purpose of Part 9 is to determine if any of the offspring are eligible for US citizenship through their parent.

Can't please everyone by getting remarried with new step brothers and sisters, five of my six kids accepted and love their new stepmom. One didn't, okay, he sided with his mom. Left with a puff, but was able to find his address through another one of my kids. Ironically, he came back after five years with a different attitude. But if I didn't find his address, don't think it would have made any difference. He did move to Japan, and was going to just list Japan, and have my wife explain the family situation, if asked.

We know for sure that he lives in the same state as we are, he lives around 1 hour away from us, we just don't know exactly in which small town. My husband contacted his mother but she doesn't seem to be willing share the address with us, she never liked my husband being to involved with their son's life :(
