Newt Gingrich’s campaign director said the candidate is viewing the setback in Virginia, in which he failed to collect enough signatures to qualify for the state’s primary, as an “unexpected setback” similar to the attack on Pearl Harbor.

“Newt and I agreed that the analogy is December 1941,” campaign director Michael Krull wrote on the Gingrich Facebook page. “We have experienced an unexpected set-back, but we will re-group and re-focus with increased determination, commitment and positive action. Throughout the next months there will be ups and downs; there will be successes and failures; there will be easy victories and difficult days - but in the end we will stand victorious.”

I think it smells.

Come on, the state campaign director for Virginia COULD NOT get it done, in the 'home-state' of Newt?

I'm sorry, that's just simple 'can't do the job' for this campaign director.

Bye Bye Virginia !!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Bogus signatures for Republican candidates in Virginia means you don't get to qualify for the ballot.

Forged signatures for Clinton and Obama in Indiana is business as usual.

Not saying that there were any, but there were still not enough to get him (or Rick Perry) on the ballot

Actually, there were, according to Gingrich, however:

By the deadline, however, the Gingrich camp believed it not only had the requisite 10,000 votes, but a few additional thousand to be safe.

The Virginia Republican Party had been verifying the signatures since the deadline on Thursday, but by Christmas Eve announced through a tweet: "@VA_GOP: after verification, RPV has determined that Newt Gingrich did not submit required 10k signatures and has not qualified for the VA primary."
