I want to go back to the Philippines in March to visit my fiance and I would like to stay with him for more than 21 days. I was thinking of 1-2 months, but I know they only allow U.S. citizens to stay up to 21 days without a visa. Does anyone know how I can apply for a longer visa now so I know it is okay for me to stay for the length of time before I book my flight? The info I have found so far online is not very clear. Thanks!

My fiance stayed with me for 3mos. Just go the nearest immigration office should you wish to extend for more than 21 days or do it in the airport itself. They will give you another 38 days extension. You will pay for an ACR (Alien Cert of Registration Card) around $282 (not sure the exact amount) if you have stayed in the Philippines for at least 59days (that's from the day you arrived to the day of your departure).

If you are going to the BOI office, don't forget to wear long pants and shoes because they won't let you get in if you are not wearing one.

sorry..21+38=59 so you will be required to pay for ACR if you stayed beyond 59 days. They will stamp an expiration date in your passport so you won't be lost. You won't be required to get a visa, your US passport is fine. :star:.

yes cheapest best way is to just contact Philippines Embassy in Washing DC. They will give you a 60 day visa for only like $30. I did that last time I went. Much cheapr than the exension in the philippines to much corruption. Then if you go over the 60 days.. I just got cheap flight to Hong Kong on Cebu airlines for 699 peso at the time flew there and came back the same day. then had another 60 days I could have stayed in phil. i stay about 80 days last time. only cost $30 visa and 699peso on cebu pacfic and lunch that day.

I just went to the Bureau of immigration in manila. Of course I didn't stay over 60 days, but I know my wife's friend's finance has stayed over a year...dont know exactly what he has done, but I would imagine that it would be cheaper to get the visa before going down there. I think my visa extension was like 3000 pesos.
