Hi Everyone, i'm gunna be applying for Citizenship based on 5 years next month, i was married to US Citizen and we got divorced before i removed my Conditions, than i applied on my own based on good faith and i got approved couple years ago, so now when i am suppose to apply i became permanent resident April of 2007!! do i have to apply Junuary 20 of 2012 or wait little bit? and can u guys provide me what document i have to submit with my N-400? thanks everybody and happy holidays.

Timeline

the calendar starts with the first green card - study the earliest date printed on that card, go forward 5 years.

Timeline

You don't HAVE to apply for citizenship exactly at the five year mark. Your greencard is good for ten. You CAN apply for your citizenship at any time after you've had your GC for five years.

- Proposal (20 August 2000) to marriage (19 December 2004) - 4 years, 3 months, 25 days (1,578 days)

STAGE 1 - Applying for K1 (15 September 2003) to K1 Approval (13 July 2004) - 9 months, 29 days (303 days)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012

*Oath Ceremony March 23, 2012.

ALL DONE!!!!!!!!

You can submit your application now Alawi..i got my permanent residency March of 2007 and i just submited my N-400 dec 21, 2011...It is also based on 5 years of residency. I submitted my IRS tax return (5years-2006 to 2010 just incase)some submit 3years copies but i did submit 5years irs copies cuz i don't want to received RFE so i'm just making sure, 2 copies of passport style photos, and front and back copy of my gc.And a check of $680. I'm still waiting for their notice.I check online that they rceived my application Dec 23, 2011.
