No one ever knows how the process and timeline works...without any rhyme or reason. You will see at times, VSC is faster than CSC and vice versa. I'm very blessed that my petition was approved in 60 days. I wish you all the best and hope for a speedy NOA2.

Hello,

I'm seeing all these people getting approved so fast(20 days is the fastest i've seen) and I don't know what to think. People say get ready for a five month wait, but dayum, when I see these fast approvals(especially for D.R. I-130's) I can't help but get my hopes up..lol. I've seen people get NOA1 early october or early Nov, and approve one month later. As much as I try to settle in for a 5 month wait, it's hard to do that when I see these fast approvals. I got my NOA1 early december so If my I-130 follows along the lines of fellow dominican appliers then January or early feb doesn't seem to far out of reach. Just some thoughts.

Matt

I wished the K-1's would be processed as fast as the I-130's!

hey - no harm, no foul.

The first time a queue sped up - the thing I learned -

Each center director (CSC or VSC) had made a determination to shift a bank of adjudicators from 'some other type' of casefile types over to I-130s that would be pegged later for spousal visas.

CSC had a coupla runs like this, VSC had a coupla runs for K-1s, now (it seems) that VSC is focusing on I-130s for spousal visas. Which, of course, is mondo cool.

This shifting, at each service center, apparently goes on all the time, without announcement. IMO, the only way to track it, even to backtrack it, is by studying the timelines here at VJ.

This is true, they do shift priorities periodically. Don;t know why and neither do most of the people working there.

there will be times that you love VSC and times you will not love VSC. (im always rooting for VSC because im a vermonter! actually, i was born in new york state and real vermonters look at me with suspicion. my official status is 'flatlander'. )

my husband is removing conditions (aka getting a 10 year green card). the USCIS website lists the processing time as 6 months. in reality it is 8 months. nothing to do but wait with as much patience can be mustered.

Words you never hear in Vermont...

Hello Idan,

I will file the I-130 for my wife in a couple of months, would you mind if you tell me in detail about the "common photos in an envelope with a big writing" you put along with your I-130, the big writing is about your relationship with your wife? I would like to find out as much info I need before I file. thank you

Sorry about that. I meant I put photographs showing both me and my wife in different occasions. I marked this envelope with a bold notable title, so that they won't open it unless they explicitly want to review them. I was motivated by preparing the package as organized as I possibly could. (e.g. the check upfront clipped to G-1145. Continuing with a short cover letter asking politely for me to be reunited with my wife in the US (noting at the bottom the presence of a table of contents in the following page). Only then the table of contents I was talking about with everything else in exactly the order USCIS wants it.

I hope this helps

Hey Guys,

Add to your statistics: Our petition was approved within 13 days. I was shocked at first. I still don't know how and why (CSC by the way).

The best thing I can think of is that I made an extraordinary table of contents with everything at exactly the same order they ask in the I-130 instructions. I put common photos in an envelope with a big writing, passport style photos in another. and everything by the order showed at the table of contents (which was the third page, immediately after G-1145 and a cover letter)

Hope this helps,

-Idan

There's currently a "wormhole" at CSC that leads a few I130 petitions to teleportate directly from "received" to "approved" in a couple weeks. It seems to affect mostly (if not only) cases where a VWP country (or low fraud country) is involved, and particularly couples who reside together abroad. We were sucked into that wormhole and I'm not complaining!

Look at the approved members who filed in October and November and you'll see the pattern.

I also prepared a very neat file with colored tabs and all, but I think a LOT of people do it and they're not approved faster for that, unfortunately.

I also prepared my package neatly, efficiently. with tabs and cover letter, exactly as recommended. I did front load with webcam photos, chats and pics. Mine still took 3.5 months or so. But I am not complaining. that was fast to me.

I think some people get approved by Luck of the Draw. The managers see that they are falling behind. So, in order to keep the average at 5 months, they have to approve some applications quickly to make up for the applications that are over or WAY over the 5 month mark. This way they can keep saying the average wait is 5-6 months. Some people just get lucky to have theirs pulled early. This is just my guess.

Good Luck to everyone.

I think it must be true, in general, that certain countries are faster than others.

I remember the other time I did this, 2007/2008, an older experienced guy who regular helped people with processing visa apps for colombians said that Dominican Republic was much faster, maybe just a couple of months.

The USA has pretty good ties to the D.R.

Gotta keep the Major League filled with prospects ;-)

Hey Matt,

Just a fellow Dominican that just completed the entire I-130 process in VSC and NVC. There is room for hope if VSC keeps it up. I completed all stages and now awaiting an interview date. It only took me about 2 months and some days. Just keep in mind that results do vary by case and individual. This post I made back in November might interest you. Best of luck in your journey.
