Notarize or not to notarize for I-130 petition

I need to send some documents to USCIS for I-130 petition, can I just send simple colored copies or do I need to notarize them first and them send them.

That depends on what the docs are, i had affidavits written by friends and family notorized, and everything else, like the marriage certificate, translated and certified.

We didn't notarize our i130 or the i864. don't have to now. Good luck!!!

I did not notorize affadavits from family or friends

our affadavits were half and half.. the half from his side weren't notarized but when i got back to the states i did have mine notarized...

other than that we didnt have anything else notarized except a written statement from my bank saying what i had in checking and savings and that i have regular child support payments coming.

We had certified copies of our marriage contract (nikah) and our tranlsated marriage certificate .

I guess it depends on what documents your talking about. The marriage certificate must be a certified copy. You save the original one for NVC.

Another related question: Do I need to send affidavits as original or copies of affidavits? also if I need to send any

translation for any document, so should I send original translation doc or copy of translation doc?

Send only copies with i130.. send all originals to NVC when its time. Make sure you have enough copies/certified copies in case they misplace the originals. You will get the originals back with the interview.

What we did is I had 3 copies of the letters from each person made. then they signed each one and notarized each one giving us 3 notarized papers as originals. It wasn't difficult as all they did was write the letter and make a copy then sign in front of the notary 3 times.

How did you get certified copy of marriage certificate? did you go to same issuing post and asked them for certified copy or

My husband had our nikah tranlsated from urdu to english and then he took the originals to the foreign ministry and had them make copies and they certified each copy. then he sent them to me via post.
