Bush was an horrible president. Obama is worse only because he's taking Bush's policies and expanding them.

Nope.

The worst part about Obama is that he promised us the world, and didn't deliver even a slice of that.

Sadly, seen as a whole package, he's still better than any of the alternatives. Wish we could vote on separate issues, such as war, bailouts, education, supporting Israel, immigration, and so on, instead of having to choose between Dumb and Dumba.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

This is my favorite one:

The government will not (and cannot afford) to give out student loans or grants. How will our young people afford to get an education? Rarely can anyone afford to pay $5000 a semester out of pocket.

The fix? Have teenagers back doing the construction jobs over the summer, instead of the illegal aliens.

Worked for me and thousands of folk in my age group (and older).

now i'm thinking about chinese take out :bonk:

Damn straight! I worked my way through college. It took an extra year, but so what? And, when I finished college, I had a trade to fall back on, and later, turn into a business that allows me to live and work in a world class resort area.

My husband too! He has horror stories of tarmacing parking lots in 105 degree heat.

But to the question: difficult one, they are both awful. I would go with Paul though, especially i9f he chose a decent VP, on the basis of "anyone but Obama". Really with Jindal had run, but that isn't going to happen now.

I am paying $3200 a semester for 2 classes excluding books.

How much was it when you went to college. $3200 for 4 years?

Find a less expensive school.

I am paying $3200 too much! It should be free! good.gif Paid for by hard working Americans such as yourself kicking.gif

PS: It is a masters program. Even University of Phoenix is more expensive than where I'm at:

"How much does a master’s degree from University of Phoenix cost?

Tuition and fees for the University of Phoenix vary, depending on whether the student is enrolled online or on campus, and how many credits each course is worth. Generally, a course costs around $2100.00, and the total cost for a degree ranges between $20,000 and $40,000. Financial aid is available, and students with a military background receive a generous discount."

Online Masters programs are overpriced.

My alma mater. It was about $600/semester for full time undergrad when I went there. Of course, hourly pay was about a third of what it is now. Still, if I was a student these days, I would be pissed, because even with an MBA, you may still be working at McDonalds after you graduate, just not flipping burgers anymore.

We all want our plunder from the government, and the great thing about Ron Paul is that he is saying we all have to give it up: Corporate welfare along with individual federal welfare, housing, education, etc. The states can decide what they want individually about such issues. The federal government has very few constitutionally prescribed duties, and was expressly forbidden from anything not enumerated. But it is far beyond its boundaries, and the executive has powers approaching that of a king. The founders tried to urge their posterity that most especially in war, the constitution needed numerous checks and balances, namely that congress debate and declare them first, that we not have a standing professional army as we do now, etc. They allowed for a Navy and I can see the parallel with air forces, but the standing army is wrong for the reasons you see before you now.

They warned us that all our liberties such as protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, assembly, redress of greivances, privacy, habeas corpus, trial by jury, etc. - all of that would be abridged through war. The founders have been vindicated and we ought to be ashamed of ourselves for letting it happen: this perpetual War on Terror and the associated police state we are erecting has done exactly that.

He's called an "isolationist" for preferring trade, diplomacy, and cultural interaction instead of bombing people. He's treated as a kook for understanding the long history the banks and government combining against the people, and for using inflation as a hidden tax. But the people calling him that are the ones with vested interests in the plunder they get through our bloated everyone-steal-from-everyone-else federal system.

Anyone who has read the Declaration recently has to wonder why we haven't overthrown this "king" we have now.

Interesting results on the poll.

Everybody doubts him.

I'm telling you, come January 4th, the nation will be singing a different tune.
