Have to go with Obama I guess. I'm not a supporter of Ron Paul, but I have been a fan of his for years. My concern now is that time has just passed him by. If he wins he would be 81 by the end of the first term.

If he picks a really strong VP candidate with similar ideals, I would consider it, but it's been a long while since we've had a VP who I would be comfortable with stepping up into the oval office and that could be the real issue with Ron. If only he would have done this 12 years ago.

Ron Paul has a couple good ideas such as decriminalizing drugs (maybe even legalizing). And he doesn't want our country to be the policemen of the world. Although some are most afraid of his foreign policy.

However, his other ideas are terrible. The most important issue is the economy and he fails big time there.

Social security, medicare, and medicaid are all unconstitutional and should be abolished.

Immediately fire a few hundred thousand government workers (and put them on food stamps and unemployment).

Eliminate the FED, the dept. of education, EPA, OSHA, FDA.

The government will not (and cannot afford) to give out student loans or grants. How will our young people afford to get an education? Rarely can anyone afford to pay $5000 a semester out of pocket.

Supreme deregulation. No bailouts even if the economy was on life support. Let our banking system crumble to the ground and have the free market fairy repair its self.

Lower taxes on rich people.

Counter less government cashflow by slashing aid (spending) to the tune of a trillion a year.

Turn away a dying man or woman (or child) at the ER because they don't have insurance.

Let a house burn to the ground because the family forgot to pay a $50 yearly fee.

Eliminate FBI, CIA, Dept. of Homeland Security, and IRS.

The list goes on and on.

You raise a great question.... who could he possibly choose as his VP?

He would by necessity have to choose a more "conventional" person.

One of the huge blunders Ross Perot made was his Choice in a VP, it was even a bit scary.

Gary Johnson to run as Libertarian

EXETER, N.H. -- Former two-term New Mexico governor and GOP hopeful Gary Johnson is dropping out of the Republican nomination race to run as a Libertarian candidate, NBC News has confirmed.

Johnson's campaign spokesman Joe Hunter cited Johnson's lack of exposure within the Republican party as a main reason for his decision to seek the Libertarian nomination.

Johnson appeared in only two of more than a dozen nationally televised debates and had trouble getting his shoestring campaign off the ground in early states. He will make an official announcement next Wednesday at a press conference in Santa Fe.

"His exclusion from the debates and lack of acknowledgement from the Republican establishment has been very frustrating," Hunter told NBC News. "His commitment since day one to get his message out."

Johnson's decision has been anticipated since he paused his New Hampshire-centric campaign several weeks ago.

His strategy shift notably began when Johnson nearly missed the registration deadline for New Hampshire's primary in October.

Johnson completed the filing with just hours to spare after a campaign staff mistake and a last-minute red-eye flight from Arizona to Manchester.

Several staff members left the campaign shortly afterward and Johnson quickly stopped canvassing in New Hampshire thereafter.

Johnson is known for his support for legalizing marijuana. He also supports abortion rights.

As New Mexico governor, he often worked with the Libertarian party to advance his agenda so this move is not entirely out of his comfort zone.

"Going back to his governor days, he has been comfortable with the Libertarian label," Hunter said.

The Libertarian party national convention will be held in Las Vegas next spring.

Johnson is a sharp guy in many ways, he'd make a good VP but on the downside, Ron paul does not seem like a seeker-of-advice, he has all the answers and I am thinking his answers and Johnson's rarely agree.

Why not have his son, Rand, as his running mate? He already has more experience than Obama did when he was elected.

I think Obama more than anything else has shown us what happens when you pick the fruit before it's ripe.

It's possible had obama taken more time to develop he could have been a much better leader but from the outset it was clear he was in way over his head. There is a learning curve in every profession.

Rand is on a good path, let it proceed at it's own pace.

I agree Ron paul is such a long-shot he would need a breakthrough of historic proportions to win.

Oddly enough, he is the only candidate that has a base which likes, I mean really likes their candidate.
