Hello everyone,

I helped to type up the Letter of Intent for the K1 Visa process for my girlfriend and I. I didn't know how detailed they wanted it so we put a basic statement of our intent and a VERY brief "how we met" paragraph in there. However, I unfortunately made a mistake on one of the dates in the letter. We went on vacation in 2011 and I mistakenly put 2010. The problem is that my girlfriend already signed the letter and sent two copies with original signatures to me via FedEx with the incorrect date on it.

I can change my copy of the Letter of Intent because we haven't submitted it yet. Also, all of our supporting documents (passport copies, flight arrangements, pictures, etc) show 2011 as the date of our vacation. Should we take the time to have her send me ANOTHER set of original documents with the corrected date on them or will the USCIS see that it was maybe a typo? Again, it's ONLY on her copy and the ONLY mistake is the year of the vacation.

We want to make sure everything goes through as quickly and painlessly as possible so if it means sending another set of documents we are certainly willing and able to do that. However, if we're going to waste time by changing something insignificant, I'd rather just move forward and get things started.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and happy holidays!

Tim

As far as I remember, and as stated in the guides, the letter of intent should be a separate document. A very brief "I ..my name.. intend to marry...her name.. within ninety days of arriving in the US". Something to that effect. The letter about how you met does not need to be huge, but very brief may not be to your advantage. And your photos should be in keeping with what you say in this letter. I do not know where you folks live, but I always caution on the side of being careful, and never had a problem. Spend a few more dollars on a FedEx envelope and a few more days to get it straight.
