That's the downside of union and government jobs, even large companies with more than 100 employees. The trade unions go gaga every four years around here recruiting among the minorities because the most of the rank and file don't vote Democrat and they can't meet their quota, even in Liberal California. It seems it's always the same five folks that are standing on picket lines, or manning on the phone banks, or becoming officers, because they are always hanging around the union hall. The qualified guys that seem to keep a job, and move right onto the next one, either don't care, or don't have the time.

Your right about a lot of that stuff you just posted, but here's where it does make a difference...and Iv'e experienced it. Say the electricians union is going to take in a dozen apprentices for the fact they have a lot of work coming up on the books. So you have maybe 500 people applying for those positions...so they can get their foot in the door. Most of those guys are going to have journeyman or close to journeyman skills already from whatever non union outfit they started out with and/or worked with. Yet out of those 12 positions I would say at least 4 of them will be filled by chicks and minorities who are lucky if they can spell their name let alone have any qualifications for the job. It's a quota thing and it sucks the big one. Out of those 4 people, I would guess maybe 1 will make it...but that's giving them the benefit of the doubt. They give up when it gets over their head. Usually the math kills them with the electricians and pipe fitters. With the iron workers it's the physical labor and the heights (tall buildings and cranes) that kills them off. It's pure bs is what it is. Iv'e been on the screwed end of it before the first time I tried to break into the pipe fitters years back. It's the main reason I ended up in the iron workers union.

As far as the union officers go...it's the d*ck suckers that always get those jobs. They k*ssed the right ####### for years while doing zilch on the job and they get rewarded with a cushy job for it. Then they pull the buddy system bs once they get in. On the down side though is a lot of those peeps lose their cushy jobs when they vote in a new BA. That BA replaces them with whoever kissed his #######.

It seems people go to pretty great effort to avoid comments which "could" be viewed as racially tinged.

Never had a prostate exam and I have no plans on getting one. If there's one thing I learned, it's the peeps that die from cancer die right after they find out they have it. Up until they find out, they look and seem fine.

I know a few peeps that died form cancer and they died right after they found out they had it. Up until then they were fine. What you don't know might not kill you, and I would rather not know and be alive, then find out I have it and kick the bucket right after a year of chemo.

It appears that more than just Republicans are questioning Eric Holder's competence (rather than his race). Apparently Joe Lieberman, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, is also looking into the DoJ on the "Fast and Furious" scandal.

Anyway Eric (My people) Holder is playing the race-card ... it's not like he is the first Attorney General to be investigated, when Alberto Gonzales was under the gun was that also -about race?

In fact more often than not the Attorney General is embroiled in these type of firing squads, sometimes just for political reason and other times with justification.
