I don't have to try again. If he's French, he's French. End of story.

But he's not French. He may have been born in France, but again he's about as French as a Taco Bell enchilada. They have third generation Muslims in England who still have a problem grasping the English language for the fact the speak whatever language at their homes and with their own kind.

Now try once more...

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Am I right about this guys?

You may be right, but no doubt men were either in the room or likely to enter, he mostly likely slugged the nurse not because she viewed his unveiled wife but because she was attempting to expose his wife to men.

Oh no, here we go again with the angry woman!

Here we go with another imbecilic post from Boing. As much as it pains me, SOfiyya is right. It seems citizenship rights only apply to white people for some. If the person in question is a citizen of France, then the law should be applied as such. It's sad that some people don't actually know what citizenship means. You should read more and post less, it would save you from looking so foolish.

You seem to be having a hard time seeing the difference between being a french citizen and "being French".

Work on that.

If you were a citizen of China would you consider yourself Chinese?

On the other hand they came to a country which policy was to "embrace" all cultures and peoples.

They were told the diversity they brought made the country "stronger".

I am all for embracing others cultures but when their cultures and beliefs are impressed on us and we are the infedels I have an issue with that.

Having the right to live in france or hold a french passport doesnt make you french. I will soon hold a US passport but it wont make me American.

Yes, I'm afraid it will. If you don't want to be American, why do you want citizenship?

Frankly, in the UK, I was never made to feel that I would ever be British if I got my passport, despite living there for most of my adult life, knowing the culture intimately and identifying more with being British than American, which I am by birth. The British are terrible about welcoming assimilation. Americans are rather good at it -- which is why in general we don't have as many issues with (for example) Muslim immigrants not feeling like they could potentially be full members of society. As an Englishman, I'm sure you know what the lack of this push towards assimilation has done in the UK.
