Hello all! New guy here.

I met my Filipina sweetie online in May 2011 and things are going very well.

On 1 Dec 11 I travelled to the Philippines and spent 2 weeks with her. We're engaged and starting the K1 visa process.

Now in the very early stages, we've been reading online here and getting the lay of the land. She'll be gathering information for her side and I'll do the same here. Once everything is ready, I'll send in the paperwork.

Just wanted to say howdy!

May your visa journey be smooth and speedy.

Welcome to the rat race, Philippines Embassy and their government have a few quirks as I see from reading here. Read up on them and good luck. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/K-1_Visa

You seem like a nice and sincere guy, so a bit of tough love advice: Please visit and spend MORE in-country time with your fiance prior to filing the 129F. It's not that that I doubt the sincerity of your relationship, but the CO will not be so forgiving.

I will let some of those with PI experience chime in, but high fraud locations are no cake-walk and require at least a few visits.

I met Patty May 2010. I went to see her Oct 2010 and spent 3 glorious weeks with her. Our relationship blossomed from there. I filed for the K-1

April of 2011. She is now here with me in California since September. I couldn't be more happier. I did go back for her interview back in August.

So, I only visited her once prior to filing the petition and it was never an issue...just sayin...good luck

More than one visit isn't necessary for the Phillipines, lots of solid evidence will get it done. I have read of many here only visiting once. I am going to be there for the interview but that is for selfish reasons.... :star::clock:

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I've been lurking here off and on over the last few months. I've done a fair bit of research here and yesterday I confirmed a couple of key things that had been on my mind. They turn out to be non-issues. Lots of great information here.

My baby hasn't been on a forum before, so she's still learning how it works. She's more of a facebook user. I'm old school. LOL!

Thanks again for the welcome.

May your visa journey be smooth and speedy.

Marriage fails even when distance is too close, even if and when you marry your neighbor. Not defending my c-\o-Filipino/a but just saying rotten eggs are globally present, tho I still think its best to give it some time to know the person best.

Hey SS, welcome aboard, lots of American/Filipina's on here, as you will see. I've met my fiance twice, once in her hometown of Manila and once we both met in Bangkok. I agree with others, I've read many people only seeing each other once and getting approved.

Good luck and you will make many friends on here, lots of good helpful info.

Merry Christmas.

It's not as rigorous as getting a VN girl over to the US. In the PI, we dont have to do the damn hoi or anything....Many guys will go visit the girl once, apply for K1, have all their ducks in a row, have no chump change job or criminal record and BAM, visa issued.

Good Luck OP, and have a happy visa journey!
