How nice to know in That in a American embassy The pratice of the C.O. is to keep alive sex and age Discrimination towards american women ...gezz its so nice to know thats where my tax dollar goes.Any other reason I could have swallowed but as a proffesional woman I find it disgusting that its still practiced.AND well heck what if I was barren at 20? hmmm

well you know WOMEN if your AMERICAN and over 30 (except if your unable to bare children )you better get a laywer to do your K3 .But if your a man ..hey no worries the AMERICAN goverment doesnt view as a problem.

Thank -you for all your nice replies

You need to get it out of your head that they're discriminating against you as a woman. You're not the one applying for a visa, with a burden of proof to satisfy. This only happens with men from countries where the culture dictates that men shouldn't marry an older woman. Rule of thumb is, if the marriage would be looked upon in a strange manner in the husband's home country, it will be scrutinized by the US consulate in that country.

To answer your question, if you were barren at 20, and it came up in interview, that would also probably be an issue.

The consulate is trying to protect you and weed out fraud. THEY THINK HE'S USING YOU. Take a few moments and think about that one, and then proceed.

You married your Spouse, the US Government has no say in that.

You can be together, the US Government can not stop that and would not want to if it could.

And women in their 50's do have children.

thanks :) I am just trying to figure out how to procede from here

Weirdo, why was the interview done in Lagos, when there is a US embassy in Ghana.

U shld query that or has he been living in Nigeria for most part of his life

he grew up in nigeria and returned to complete school ,we married in ghana he has a ghana passport and birth certificate his family is in ghana

Throwing out strange and frequently wrong facts isn't going to get you past Lagos. Did you see that 5 chruches were attacked today. Things are going to get harder now. And that is a fact.

well my poor husband finally opened up and explained that the comment as he walked up to the window was"well arent you just the smart cuties guy "I told him at that point the best he could have done was vomited at the window stated he was sick and ask for another interview because with a opening statement like that it was apparent the mind set was already made

but guess what we aint gonna get divorced so exactly how long is a married considered scam ? 1 year 2 year 5 years? and if anyone can tell me http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/telegrams/telegrams_1415.html what this is about?

The length of time you've been married has little to do with how a Consular Officer will evaluate the bona fides of the relationship. The best evidence, is the time you actually spend together in person. Spending enough time to trump or overcome previous conclusions often requires a major alteration in current priorities.

i am just looking for next step in this process ,I figure if the interviewer scared my husband to death i doubt he is very dangerous lolz

Nigeria is the toughest embassy. They tend to feel they are the sole gatekeepers. When we passed though there was an Asian CO that was reknowned for her denials. She is the one that asked my husband if his father died because he was marrying a white woman. She did however grant the visa.

The link you posted is a reminder to the staff that they have to have "proof" that the original approval was in error and that the relationship is not bonefide. That being said , they can only deny based on new found "fact" and there isn't much they can't do to find that fact. During our first interview things were going well, he knew my history, my schooling , my siblings, my kids, my ex'es and my pets. So they kept digging, finially they touched on my work. He knew the name of the company, the type of thing I do. So the CO demanded that if he wanted a visa he needed to give her details of what I was working on. I work on classified tasks so he didn't know. That was enough for them to have a new "fact" declare the relationship not bonefide and deny the visa ( and the way she offered a visa in return for explict data allowed me to report it to my security and then forward it on ) Needless to say the second interview the Asian lady didn't ask that kind of thing. That is where the talk of front loading happens . If you bury them in data then they can't find a new "fact" and deny. The danger is it gives them a lot to ask about and more chances for a nervous partner to slip up.

So did you figure out where your husband slipped up and give them the excuse to deny ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You are going about this the wrong way, yes be angry, but you need to be thinking about what your next step is going to be.

Good luck, but I would be reading and talking to my Nigerian sisters about this process and leave everyone else out.
