the whole deal is pathetic. ANYONE who voted for a "2 month" extension should be voted out of office YESTERDAY!!

These goons in both parties are so full of ####### and the American sheeple seem to eat it up... Sickening really.

Yeah, I don't get why the Democrats were pushing for a 2 month extension when Boehner said he wants a whole year, but I imagine there's some other backdoor provisions and so-called compromises. The Republicans are willing to and have already block any legislation that helps millions of working Americans just to get what they want. It's amazing how bold the Tea Party freaks in Congress act when their approval ratings are at an all-time low. There will be hell to pay in November.

That's true. I am not a fan of this payroll tax holiday. Wanna give a tax cut that benefits primarily the lower to middle income groups? Take the lower tax brackets and shave a couple points off of those. The effect on the paychecks is very similar to the effect the payroll tax holiday has - i.e. the benefit reaches everyone that has an income and it maxes out at x dollars. The issue here is that Boehner was hung out to dry by his fellow Republicans. And it isn't the first time this happened to him. He's ever more irrelevant.

I just saw this on NBC news. My unemployment is saved!!! And now matter how bad the Repubs try to fck people like me, I'm good to go seeing how they say even if the Repubs succeed in shortening the weeks for unemployment benefits...the peeps that are already qualified are grandfathered in.

I'm just hoping the Repubs go after the rich peeps now instead of having a hard on against the middle class. They make the Grinch look like an angel.

btw I'm 100% for the Keystone pipeline. I'm betting that's going to be a go after they get done making deals.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

it's funny really. ####### only got the job because of his strong speeches during the healthcare deba(cle)te.

Other than that he's been a whiney little b1tch who needs to be taken out to pasture at this point along with all the other congressman/women of both party who have been in there way too damn long and who have lost sight of reality.

That's why I keep saying this country needs a third party...one not so far right, and not so far left. But somewhere in the middle and one that won't sell us out.

Not in our lifetime, buddy. Until we get to a point where we reject a corporate government, the system will remain what it is.

Well, it's not even the corporate government aspect.

The "tea party" is a start. the problem being is that those people are so scared they are going to lose their seat right away, they end up going with the Republicans... If the tea party members would hold their ground and be loud about it, there'd be a chance. Both independent Democrats and Republicans needs to stand up and say "HEY! The establishment losers need to go!!!"

Sad to say but your probably right about that. But I still have the dream that it might happen in my lifetime. It won't...but the thought is there.

It's all about the corporate aspect. This is who the American people are being sold out to. The tea party isn't a start. The tea party is corporate America advancing their agenda.

The tea party didn't start off as that though at all. There were bandwagon jumpers, but the initial group was right in its actions and quite a few of those elected are as well.. The problem is the brainwashing effect that Washington has on people...
