Is it all right if we just use copies of the tax returns that we have filed and not the tax transcripts from IRS?

I really overlooked that one. I requested our tax transcripts just recently and the IRS said it may take 5-10 days for the documents to arrive in the mailbox. I don't think I can wait for those so I am considering just sending copies of what we have filed for 2009 and 2010.

Also, would it be fine to sort of hide how much money we have in the printed bank statements?

Wow! There is so much useful information to be found here on VJ  . I wish that I would have read this thread sooner though. I thought that I knew exactly what we had to do. When we bought a house and moved in mid 2011, I filed a change of address for my wife online. I did not know that we had to file the AR-11 AND that I had to file the I-865. I had already prepared and sent our I-751 packet this morning. I am going to mail the two address change forms this afternoon.

I think they just recently changed the requirements for the AR-11. I distinctly remember it saying that if you file the AR-11 online for the Non-U.S. Citizen, you were no longer required to file the AR-11 paper form - this was back when I filed my AR-11 online at the end of March 2011. In fact, the "Change of Address Information" page on the USCIS website still says "If you use our Online Change of Address, you do NOT need to file a paper Form AR-11." http://www.uscis.gov/addresschange * When I read the updated Change of Address instructions at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa&localeLang=en though, we decided to mail a new AR-11 paper form just in case (we included a copy of my Electronic Submission and a copy of my husband's I-797C for the I-865 to prove that we did report our change of address within 10 days of our move).

I did not go overboard on the evidence, since it has been my experience that we have a solid, genuine case, and we have had no questions or issues to date. However, I am hoping that my lack of affidavits will not pose a problem. My included evidence is:

  1. Home mortgage in both names, title and signature pages.
  2. Bank statement in both names, first page with account holders information.
  3. Health insurance card in both names.
  4. Tax transcript, joint, 2009
  5. Tax transcript, joint, 2010
  6. Birth certificate of first child born Nov. 2009.
  7. Birth certificate of second child born Feb. 2011.

I guess I will find out. I hope that there is no RFE.

Thanks Fatima and Jim for the help!

What we have by now:

  • Copy of our 2009 and 2010 joint US tax return
  • Bank statements from 2 Banks showing the joint accounts
  • Copy of mortgage deed, with both names
  • Copy of our health insurance coverage summary, showing a joint policy
  • Copy of hospital bill for me, showing both names
  • Pictures

What you guys think, should we add affidavits from friends, or we are good to go?

Donald-n-Analyn and Saska+Tim, I think both of your evidence looks good! :) You can also include copies of your Driver's License or State ID showing the same address if you have it :) From what everyone is saying, the joint tax returns carry the most weight :)

Is it all right if we just use copies of the tax returns that we have filed and not the tax transcripts from IRS?

We just included copies of our tax returns too. We didn't request tax transcripts either.

I remember Jim included just copies of his tax returns for our I-129F petition and it was approved with no problems :)

Another question - Did you guys use the format of the cover letter on the VJ guides? It doesn't sound that appealing to me. unsure.gifI

I personally had forgotten to file a change in address when we moved to GA a year ago. And I beleive it never crossed my husbands mind. I have already submitted my 1-751 now so it's too late but if we have to move again I will definitely do it. Anyway on the bright side I just received my1-751 Receipt Notice with the 1 year extension today. I can now go and get my DL reinstated tomorrow. It expired on the 7th!

You might still want to file the paper form AR-11 http://www.uscis.gov/ar-11 - the USCIS instructions say that the online Change of Address changes the address on a pending application but the paper form AR-11 changes it on their master database. It might be a good idea because I changed my address online but USCIS still sent the I-751 reminder to our old address :(
2. Non-U.S. Citizens

If you have moved, you need to follow two different steps:

  • Step 1: File a Form AR-11 (This changes your address in our master database.);
  • Step 2: If you have a pending case, you must also file a Change of Address online or call our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. (This changes your address for the specific application you have submitted.)

Please note that if you are a non-U.S. citizen and you have a pending case, you must complete both steps to make sure that you comply with the regulations and so we can reach you at your correct address.

Just correcting the list format! ^_^

I also intend for the ROC to be smooth and speedy, no RFE.

I hope that the tax returns will suffice.

I really hope so...at least we'll be ready in case they do ask for the transcripts ;)

They did say that as long as you have substantial evidence of your relationship, it wouldn't matter ^_^ I think we sent plenty of evidence ;)
