Congrats to everyone, we are already 3 months in. I know some people are about to say "its not 3 months yet" for them, since they filed late Jan. However, if there is anything we have learned so far, the time of the month you filed is insignificant; Beginning or end of the month does not seem to matter when it comes to getting approval notices.

To VSC filers, we have about 4 months to go (based on the fact that VSC is half-way into July); by the Grace of almighty God, it would be less.

CSC filers, we should be hearing something from you all in about 7 weeks I think (CSC is now in Nov).

Anyways, I just thank God that we are gradually getting to the months when we would be checking our mailboxes 5 times a day(for a letter) as if we were on crack...haha

I finally gave in to my concern about waiting over a month after having our interview and not getting a response. I called USCIS today--what a waste of time and an exercise in frustration!! I called and spoke with the Tier 1 rep who told me that unless my husband was on the phone he could not release any information. I explained that the petition was filed jointly and both of our names are on it, but he insisted on talking to my husband who was not with me. I was able to arrange a conference call and made it through to another Tier 1 rep who gave me the usual canned responses about waiting 6 months. He got frustrated with my persistence and agreed to transfer me to a Tier 2 rep. She was nice but said that she can only tell me that the case is still being reviewed and confirmed that it has been assigned to someone. Duh! Of course it has been assigned to someone or we wouldn't have had an interview. I asked if our background checks had gone through since I know some people are delayed by that, but she wasn't allowed to give that information. I am sure that isn't the problem seeing as how my husband just got a background check done for work and had the results within 24 hours. Everything was clear. I was prepared to wait 5-6 months for an approval, but now that we have had an interview, I am worried that our file has been misplaced somewhere. Another couple interviewed at the local office recently and got approved that night, so I doubt it is a matter of the office being behind on interviews. I have read several horror stories of people interviewing at our local office for ROC, not receiving a response for months, and then receiving an RFE 6 months later, and sometimes even a second interview 9 months after the first one. Our case is very straightforward. There are no red flags that I can identify. No previous marriages or problems with immigration or the law. The interview seemed to go fairly well. We have international travel planned, and I don't know if it is better to schedule an Infopass for the I-551 stamp or not. Some people here on VJ said that they had problems with just having the stamp but that the expired green card with the extension letter was more accepted. I think if we get the stamp we have to give up the expired green card. I really don't want to risk having an IO at POE that isn't familiar with the process either option we take. I am also thinking about how soon I want to schedule an Infopass and if there is any advantage to it. I know some people have been successful in getting movement on their case because the Infopass operator goes upstairs and finds out what the hold up is. (They would have a record of who is processing our case). But I don't want to count on that just to be disappointed again not to mention taking time off work to go to the appointment. If I decide to get the stamp in the passport, I will have to schedule Infopass anyway, and I can ask them then to check on the file. Sorry for the rant, but I am so sick of dealing with immigration. I skipped setting an infopass appointment because just like you, I was a little wary that they might offer to keep my actual card once the passport stamp is given. I don't wanna risk that.

Hi Everyone,

This forum has been very helpful and informative. I've sent my package in October 2011, had my biometrics taken on December 9th. Since then nothing until last friday April 6th when I received an RFE notice. I've been waiting in the mail for so long to now receive this letter which requires more evidences. I know it was our fault since we didn't submit tax returns and our address are confusing (we moved several times). We also don't have health insurance cards so but we have submitted everything else: such as bills, leases, joint bank accounts, mail showing our addresses, photos from our trip to South America, flight tickets copies.

Now Im preparing my package to be sent. My deadline is June 25 2012. I would like to know what kind of cover letters can I include in my package,any affidavit?
