Your case number will be on your ASC appointment notice - Biometrics Letter, and with it, you should be able to follow your case on-line at www.uscis.gov (it's not on the checks anymore).

Anyone know if I could find my case number off the check that was cashed electronically?

When they cashed our check, they converted it into an ACH transfer so there was no check image available after the transaction was completed.

Your NOA will have a Receipt Number - you won't be able to use this to track your case online. There is a note at the bottom of the NOA that says you have to use the Application number on your ASC (Biometrics) notice to be able to track your case online. :) Hope that helps! ^_^

I think some cases aren't even trackable online? It probably depends on each particular adjudicator. Maybe some don't scan them into the system OR scan them only when they first receive the packet OR only scan them in during the later stages (approval / card production?). We can't know for sure because the packets probably change hands during the whole process.

BTW, how did you find out when the service center received your biometrics? :)

Hi! I've added you to the CSC list!

  • You should receive the NOA within 30 days of filing the I-751. If you still haven't received it after the 30 days are up, you can contact the USCIS so they can send you another copy.
    The NOA is the extension letter.
  • You should also receive the Biometrics notice within 30 days, they usually send the appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of the scheduled appointment.

    No one knows for sure whether doing an early walk-in actually speeds up the process.
  • There is no direct number to the CSC but you can call the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283

I know they received my biometrics on 1/31 because the officer I spoke to on the phone was checking the status on file and they said that they had my biometrics on file effective 1/31 "shows that I already got biometrics done" and I had gotten done on 1/27 which means they recived them 4 days later. I guess after biometrics are done my file still sits on a desk :( I hope Vermont hurrys up!!!!!! I wanna take a vacation with my husband!

Received my NOA today, its dated 1/30/2012.

And after the initial feeling of relief, I realize now that we do have a situation here. Hope anyone here has an idea on what to do.

The I-751 is on my name, but I used it for my now 17 year old son also. He got his green card a few days after me.

The NOA is on my name only and I am assuming this is the only one we get and it doesn't mention my son, who has my ex's last name.

His card expires in March also , a few days after mine and in June he's supposed to travel to his father in Europe. He also needs to renew his passport just before that and needs to show his GC for that.

Seen his age, he travels alone. I was supposed to go to Spain in June.

What to do?

Hopefully they do start picking up the pace soon ;) My Biometrics appointment is next week - I'm glad we'll be able to get it done soon too ^_^

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what to do and whether your son will be receiving a separate NOA...maybe someone else will be able to shed some light on this?

It might be a good idea to call USCIS and ask them. If they won't be sending a separate NOA, maybe your son could get an I-551 stamp on his passport?

I-551 is the form number for the Permanent Resident Card (green card). An I-551 stamp is placed into a passport as a temporary substitute for a valid green card. A foreign passport with an I-551 stamp inside is proof of legal presence, and authorizes employment and travel abroad during its period of validity.
