I have been seeing some conflicting information as to wheter you must present the NOA2 from your K1 when you file for AOS. Ours was lost in a house fire last night (thank God everyone is ok). I have read that you have to file the I824 and pay the $405 fee to get another copy, and I have also read that the actual visa stamp in his passport contains everything that they will need. I called USCIS and the representative seemed to not understand what I was talking about at all. So do you HAVE to have the NOA2 for your AOS? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am sorry about the house fire...glad that everyone is OK :D It is listed on the checklist here on VJ...I'm not certain whether or not it's indeed a "requirement"...I have never heard about paying for another copy????? Wow. I would call USCIS and explain the situation and ask them to send you another since you lost it in a house fire...it's worth a shot. Hopefully, someone else can give you a more definitive answer about filing AOS without it. Good luck with everything.

Sorry about the incident!... unfortunately you do need the NOA2 for the adjustment of status. I have heard you can get a copy from USCIS for about 400 dlls or so, it is expensive I know but that might be the only option. However, if u don't mind delaying things a bit u could try sending your AOS without it and hope u won't get the Rfe, if u do u will have to get ur copy then!

Yes you need to have the NOA2 or at least the letter from NVC. Have you lost everything? Did you make a digital copy of everything? they only need a copy so if you have a digital copy somewhere you can print that and still be okay.

Yes you have to submit a copy of your NOA2. You don't have a backup on email or anything? Am truly sorry, glad to hear you're ok but what a loss though!

No we have no copy. My scanner was broken and I never realized that document was of such importance. I had assumed the USCIS would have a copy and we would not need it as that is who we file AOS through as well. You know the old saying about assume beginning with ####...I will send in the request for a new one tomorrow. Thanks for the information! And just to vent a bit $405 for reprinting a single page document is just outrageous and unfair!!! Ok I feel a bit better now.

Yeah, completely pointless that one document costs more than actually petitioning in itself. Venting is justified imo ! :)
