Hi everybody,

Didn't know where to put this question? Long story short me and my ex wife never made it to the 2 year agreement and she left while i was at work one day so I have been told I'm hooked on the support part but i also heard i can write a letter to the USCIS and might get her investigated when she tries to get the condition removed or tries to get a 10 year Green Card but i need her A#, she took every paper that had to do with anything and everything on the visa getting here here and all the papers on her AOS so i have nothing. The question is where would i begin to find her alien registration number? if i don't have anything but her name? Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that. I had a similar situation, but have been told I'm stuck with the 10-year affidavit.

Did you use an immigration attorney when you filed? Perhaps they would have a copy of your paperwork that would have her number?

You might also ask your congressperson's office to contact USCIS. They were helpful for me with something before.

The Affidavit of Support is going to be over your head until:

1) your ex-wife has paid 40 quarters (10 years if working full time) into SS

2) becomes a U.S. citizen

3) loses her status and gets kicked out

4) dies.

It will also end when you die, so that would be the easiest way to get rid of this. There is no other way to pull the Affidavit of Support.

That said, if your divorce is final, the conditions of her conditional Green Card -- being married to a U.S. citizen -- no longer exists. Thus she would be required to immediately file for Removal of Conditions. If you inform the USCIS that you have been divorced and your wife did not file (which you can't possibly know, by the way), then the immigration folks would be inclined to light a fire under her behind.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . A lawyer had told me to write a letter to the USCIS with her name and A# and that what happen but i don't know her A# so how would i find or who would i get the A# from? Thanks
